How many of us have had to deal with associates at these mega law firms? Lots and we have heard all of the comical and not-so-comical issues concerning them. You have some such as Troy A. Christiansen and Adam P. Lipsic, both of Hersh, Mannis & Bogen, incredible talent…

…Here is another group of shining stars: Annie Nakornratana Slusser, Erica Swensson, and Benjamin Valencia, these three are from the firm of M-O-L-M aka Meyers, Olson, Lowy and Meyers…

…Not to be left out you cannot forget one of the biggest, Trope and Trope, here I find a few that I love and a few…not so much. Here are a couple of my favorites, Tara Scott, Meghann Bonvie, and of course Angela Harris… …Working with Sorrell Trope you will learn things no law professor will ever teach you.

Another just wonderful office is that of Judith R. Forman, here you will find Cori G. Stockman, an integral part of the firm, incredible legal talent and most of all smart…

…Over at Susan Wiesner’s office you will find Sawsan Mansour, Amanda B Harvey, and Adam N. Schanz…

…The above is just a very small list of some very competent associates who I believe are on the fast track to fame and most of all fortune in the Divorce Game, or as it is known in proper circles, Family Law…

…Hey, I could be on to something here…sure, Soooooper Dooooooper Associates. We could collect lots of money and do mailings and put the names on office-looking letterhead and make millions, and like the others, you’ll be Sooooooper Doooooper as long as you paid for your placement on our site! What a concept!

Now on the other hand, if you have a dozen or so or 5 or 6 associates you will have what we call “God’s 2%.” Who are they you ask?

Already? I rushed to my mailbox for my February issue of LOS ANGELES magazine and got an instant rash, 2011 Southern California Super Lawyers issue! We had our usual laughs and then it got serious, Phillips, Lerner, Lauzon & Jamra…Jamra, did she not so move on? Well if you look at page S-8 you will see the group photo, was that photoshopped? And the space between Sticey Flips and Grace Jamra is big enough to stick Lynn Soodik in, sure like a plug! …Grace Jamra is now Jamra and Jamra, there is no more ‘J’, it is ‘PLL’, as Grace is gone!

…Not to only mention Sticey, but who reads this drivel and hires someone based on being a “Super” anything, I think you should have “Super Dooper,” “Super Biller,” “Super Super Dooper”… My thought here folks is that I wish that I had been the slick SOB who came up with this idea, it is now showing up in other papers, everyone is “Super.” Then we have “top 50? and we have the “top 100,” this is great, how about the “bottom 3.” Or the “worst biller” or the “best biller” (we all know who those are!). Or the best dresser or the worst dresser, the best hair….the worst hair. How about for the men, those who never shine their shoes? Sorrell Trope will always be the best dressed and his shoes…like mirrors, and you won’t find him paying to be called a “Super Lawyer”. And here is the bad news, many of you who are grabbing for this silly title really suck at doing what you do and we all know who you are!

What are some of those just brilliant old expressions? … “ you don’t know what you got till you lose it.”

Well, I was walking down Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills the other day after having lunch at the Montage and heard this big splash. What? I could not believe my eyes, it was Grace Jamra of JAMRA & JAMRA. Grace has dropped anchor in Beverly Hills at JAMRA & JAMRA, 9465 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 460, Beverly Hills, California……you can call her at 310-278-9001.

Formerly of Phillips, Lerner, Lauzon & “she is gone” Jamra, LLP. This is huge, as it is in many of these “premiere” divorce firms, you have one in the firm who is a great self promoter but presents a case as if… …

…I coined the term “Amazing Grace” after sitting and listening to her in court a few years ago…

…. what took this 20 year veteran so long? So long to move out of a situation of working for ol’ what’s her name? I would have given a pair of my cashmere socks to see the look on Sticey Flips when the news hit her with her morning coffee. Ouch! And it would appear that others too are checking the depth of the water and chipping barnacles in hopes of setting sail
.
Jamra & Jamra will be a power house of expertise and experience, I will promise any of my readers, no disappointments here folks. Amazing Grace has even taken a cut in her hourly rate, from $675 per hour to $500, her idea. When I asked why, her answer in typical Grace Jamra fashion, “I want to give the clients more bang for the buck!” How often do you see divorce lawyers lowering their hourly fees? …

….We at DESPERATEEXES.COM want to wish Grace Jamra and everyone at JAMRA & JAMRA, smooth seas, a strong wind and friendly ports…

Ask anyone over 55 years old as to how fast time moves and they will tell you it seems to accelerate with every birthday. They come ( birthdays ) faster and faster, this is not a scientific position that I am taking here but just the way I feel. I was away from the “Mosk” for almost three weeks during the Anna Nicole Smith preliminary hearing…

We make the trip to “the Mosk” and no sooner do I look at my calendar than who do I see walk into? Bob Cohen, Lawyer and his client… …He just left Judge Endman’s court and was sent to the “mediator,” who was not in! How does that happen?

…Upon entering the room who do I see but Elyse Margolin and one of her clients. Elyse is looking fabulous and her client too is well dressed and wins points with me immediately when she asks, “don’t you write for DesperateExes?” Well is this not nice to meet someone who reads what you write?! I mean she is highly educated and very well-coiffed, and she reads us!

…Well “twinkle toes” walks over and snatches the chair that Mr. Cohen was using. I told him that the chair was taken, and he goes into a story that he had the chair earlier and was thus “entitled” to the chair now when he returns back to the room…after observing him, perhaps he needed it more than any of us. I was told that his name is Larry Bakman, who has a little legal practice in criminal defense, and that he tells those who will listen that he handles “all” the criminal defense issues out of Phillips, Lerner, Lauzon & Jamra LLP…Peter, Stacey or Grace give me a call, I have some suggestions for you!

UPDATE: 11/11/09 2:30 P.M. A CONFIDENTIAL SOURCE AT Phillips, Lerner, Lauzon & Jamra TOLD US AT DESPERATEEXES.COM THAT BAKMAN “SELDOM DOES WORK” FOR THEM. AND “WOULD NOT BE A FIRST CHOICE.” LMAO….no surprises here folks!

There were some people running around looking for the courtroom for the Justin Timberlake issue with some female stalker. Marty Singer (lawyer extraordinaire) was in the building I assume, as he represents Mr. Timberlake. I had to leave as I was going over to the new L.A.P.D. Headquarters for a tour of Threat Management Unit, my friends for many years, an incredible group of men and women with the sole purpose to help those in the public arena against those who would do harm to them. My offer to Martha DeFoe is still open: DeFoe and Nazarian………I can’t compete with “plan A.” All my best to Martha and her family and the offer stands!

Not often do I get to see “Titans of Divorce” going at it, but today I was fortunate to have been given a tip that Sherri Shepherd and her former husband, Jeff Tarpley would putting the final icing on the “I am so through with you” cake. Jeff is represented by Peter A. Lauzon and his associate Sharon Stark, both of the high power divorce firm of Phillips, Lerner, Lauzon & Jamra, LLP …… real heavy hitters in the L.A. divorce scene.

And sitting at the other end of the table are none other than Fred Silberberg and Terry Levich Ross. For my readers both of these firms are tough and will fight in a verbal slug fest that bring smiles to my face. ….

….Bless you! Sherri was asked, “what is important about your marriage?” LMAO! she stated, “One of my weaknesses is that I am a yes person.” Hmmm not so much anymore. Jeff stated when asked, “What is important about your marriage?” ‘We balance each other, Sherri makes more money than I do.” And at the rate of these legal fees you better hope she continues to. I watched these two people through part of the day and I have to say that they both come across as decent people. I found both very interesting even when Ms. Shepherd choked when asked while on the stand “was she not telling the truth” in reference to “e-mails.” Alright I hope all of you have heard my opinion of e-mails and text messages…DON’T DO IT! Well Peter A. Lauzon is a force to be dealt with in court and he had Ms. Shepherd doing the “Porky Pig,” you know, long pause and then the stutter. Lauzon was relentless in his attack on Shepherd and I think that it will pay off.
