The Sun News.com of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina led with the headline of “Developer linked to Playboy Model to Plead Guilty to Mail Fraud” by David Wren

The article goes on to say:

“Ford Shelley Jr. – the local developer whose acquaintance with the late Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith helped fuel a media circus following her death – has agreed to plead guilty to a felony charge of mail fraud related to allegedly falsified mortgages he helped to arrange for his Pineapple Bay condominium project in Myrtle Beach.

“Even though he has agreed to plead guilty, Shelley said he is the innocent victim of a mortgage broker who misled him about the legality of a loan program that Shelley used to sell the condos. Neither Shelley nor his lawyer identified the mortgage broker.”

Nice to know poor Ford is still hollering he is the victim. Wonder what the patriarch, G. Ben Thompson, thinks of Ford Shelley taking down some of the Thompson family with him, like Gaither B Thompson, II who is to be arraigned on November 9, 2011 at 10:30 AM in Florence, South Carolina for mail fraud with two of Shelley’s other business partners; after what we can gather was Shelley testifying against them to the grand jury, per Shelley’s plea deal.

All things considered Shelley’s attorneys, Gene Connell of Surfside Beach and Brown Johnson of Florence, cut Shelley a pretty sweet deal. Shelley:

“Did devise and intend to devise a scheme and artifice to defraud a lender by means of false and fraudulent pretenses, representations, and promises.”

Shelley sold condo units at his Pineapple Bay Project, operated by his company, “Fruits of My Labor LLC” by inducing buyers to purchase the units and then Shelley would give them a large kick back in money after the sale of said property and leave that little tidbit out to HUD.

However the plea agreement is only for one count of mail fraud because of course Shelley’s hands were all over the completed loan packages minus that kick back money when mailed to GMAC Mortgage Corporation. Damn it is always the IRS or the U. S. Postal Office that gets you, Ford didn’t watching the Capone movies teach you anything?

Shelley sold the condos for $695k to $700k, all but one went into foreclosure. The condos are now selling for $135k to $155k.

Shelley entered into the plea deal on October 11, 2011. The day after Shelley plea deal was filed with the court on October 24, 2011, the federal grand jury indictment of Shelley’s brother-in-law Gaither Thompson II and two business partners for mail fraud of the same property was unsealed on October 25, 2011.

Shelley under his plea agreement was to testify to the grand jury truthfully about other parties involved. No date for his sentencing has been set, if he helps get the other guys, like in-laws, he might get some points by the court. Shelley is facing a maximum of up to 20 years in prison, a fine up to $250K, supervised release up to 3 years and a special assessment of $100.00.

So wonder if Ford and wife Gina Thompson Shelley will be invited to the holiday festivities this year?

In what appears to be generosity the Estate of Anna Nicole Smith through the Executor Howard K. Stern filed with the federal court in South Carolina a Request for more time to enter the final agreement between the Estate and the Thompson/Shelley families until a hearing in the Probate Court in California to be held on January 24, 2012.

My final question after watching all of these clowns since February 2007, is CAN Ford Shelley be honest? What are your thoughts is facing federal prison time suddenly turned Ford into an honest man?

Yesterday, January 13, 2011, the “black bag” was found and turned over to the police in Tucson Arizona yesterday that contained among other things the diary of Jared Lee Loughner alleged assassin of Federal Court Judge John M Roll and Gabriel Zimmerman a federal employee working for U. S. Congress woman, Gabrielle “Gabby” Giffords. Loughner is also charged with the attempted assassination of Gabrielle “Gabby” Giffords a member of the U. S. Congress and the attempted murder of Pamela Simon and Ron Barber, both employees of the U. S. government engaged in performance of official duties.These charges were described by Tony M. Taylor Jr. Special Agent for the FBI in a sworn statement attached to the criminal complaint filed with the federal court on Sunday, January 9, 2011.

People who know Loughner have said if anyone wants to know who “the real” Jared Lee Loughner they have only to read his diary of “lucid dreaming”. I began to check up on what this means because of a news reference to the movie “Inception” that Ken had watched just a week ago.

I found several definitions that sated: “Lucid dreaming is dreams in which the sleeper is aware that he or she is dreaming and can actively participate in and often manipulate the imaginary experiences in the dream environment. Lucid dreaming is a form of dream in which the conscious mind takes control over the contents of the dream. The phenomenon of being both conscious enough to recognize and being aware that one is dreaming and is then able to control the dream events.”

WOW talking about an insanity defense, some who have read the diary have said that Loughner had began to delve further and further into lucid dreaming in the past few years. Some suggest he perhaps was not sure if he was aware of being awake when he opened fire in that parking lot last Saturday, January 8, 2011 or if he thought he was dreaming.

Judy C. Clarke was asked by the Arizona Public Defender’s office to take over the case because she is known as “”patron saint of criminal defense attorneys”. Clarke has more experience than anyone in federal and state courts representing defendants who are unpopular nationally because their alleged crimes are especially depraved or heinous.

Ms. Clarke has taken on some of the most high profile cases of infamous killers such as Theodore Kaczynski, also known as the “Unabomber”, whose devices over 20 years killed three people and injured 23 more; Eric Rudolph, known as the “Olympic Park Bomber”; as an adviser in court to 9/11 co-conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui (though technically he represented himself at his 2006 trial); and to Susan Smith, convicted in 1995 in the drowning deaths of her two children. Clarke is a fierce opponent of the death penalty and when she was able to get a jury to spare the life of Susan Leigh Vaughan Smith South Carolina law makers were so enraged that they changed the state laws as to not allow any defense attorney to appear with a Pro Hac Vice status in the state. Shortly after the law was passed Clarke returned the $85,000.00 she received from the state to defend Smith.

Clarke is known to be brilliant, energetic and tries to maintain a low profile by staying out of the public eye and not granting any interviews.

Judy Clarke and her team, Mark Francis Fleming, Reuben Camper Cahn and Jon M Sands, made their first appearance of behalf of Jared Lee Loughner at his first formal court appearance in Phoenix on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Once the court officially appointed her and her team to represent Laoughner her first petition, which was granted, was that no Arizona judge should preside over the trial because of the alleged assassination of a sitting federal judge in Arizona. Clarke and her team are based in San Diego California. Loughner next appearance in court for a preliminary hearing is Monday, January 24, 2011, at 1:30 P. M.

So based on the defense of insane based on a diary that outlines what all admits are crazy entries about Loughner being drawn deeper and deeper into lucid dreaming, can Clarke succeed in getting a jury to spare the life of Loughner?

That is dedication, Anna would go in and take care of business with the wealthy developer and Howard would be camped out in the “Guest Room.” Was he still her boyfriend at that time or was there a time-out called? This behavior was called into play with one of those politicians in the Bahamas at one time, was it not? And I can see you all getting your soap boxes out to shout “not fair.”…

…“Smith was pregnant, and when her daughter was born in September of that year, Thompson said, Smith asked him to put his name on the birth certificate as father of the child.

“I contemplated it but it was not the right thing to do,” he said. “I knew I was not the father. I had had a vasectomy.”

“A vasectomy.“ well that is nice, as there are a few in this Anna Nicole Smith saga who I am sure have had frontal lobotomies. …And if there was any question at all there sure was none when the little girl was born. Just beautiful, and let me say this, … …Soooooo why did Anna Nicole Smith go through all that she did when she was alive to prevent the truth and “him” from taking the rightful position that he deserved? ……. Even looking back and realizing many people had been duped, in the “happy couple” thing. Even though all of us who had any sense stated, “the baby looks like him, you know the other “him.” And in the end it was proven who “daddy” was, him…. …The question is this, had Anna Nicole Smith lived would she have ever given credit to the rightful father, and if not why? Was it the outside influences, was it the drugs or was it something more devious?
