Yes it would be symbolic because they are all millionaires anyway and there are only 50% of Americans that have $2,000.00 for an emergency. I was shocked a few weeks ago when I heard that that only 50% of American families have access to $2,000.00 for an emergency. Then I remembered when I made good money and yes I lived above my means and from pay day to pay day. So that must still be the way most workers, that are not doing three jobs to just try to stay caught up, still lives. If you go to the poor, disabled, old on social security, the military families and the veterans the no $2,000.00 for an emergency is probably closer to 80%, that is just my guess. In full disclosure Ken and I do have that $2,000.00 by the Grace of God and watching as this Tea Party extremist movement took over our government. We had to make adjustments like Ken is not returning to college this fall as we had hoped he would.

So my proposal is this. Don’t pay any member of congress, representatives, senators, vice president and president. It won’t hurt them it would only be “symbolic”, but that is about all we have seen since January 1, 2011, “symbolic votes” and fighting and more fighting and then more fighting and reaching for that “sound bite”. We are a nation of sound bites for cable news.

However let’s go further, don’t pay any congressional staff member, don’t pay their monthly insurance premiums, no travel on military planes and make them pay for all of that; or disclose who is paying it for them, that transparency they want. Let’s see how patriotic they are about “saving us from ourselves”, and before they say they are working so they deserve to be paid. That would be a no, just tell them they are salaried and they used up their comp time this year with they work two weeks and then off one week garbage they did staring in January. If you think this is harsh 4,000 employees of the FAA was just furlough Friday WITHOUT PAY, cause the FAA could not get their pay approved.

Pull in those cots for their offices, they still have it good, cool marble, a gym with showers and a pool. The can work causal would be a nice sight to see. Let’s get a good cook from Louisiana to go up to the capital and feed them Cajun beans and rice, after all it is delicious and it is good for you, those lentils and all.

Now let’s talk about Amendments to the Constitution, they want a balance budget amendment, well I want a term limit amendment. When the GOP got back in power after President Roosevelt pulled off 4 elections and pulled us out of the Great Depression they limited the president to two terms, 8 years with an amendment to the constitution. During the Regan years when they had been controlling the White House for many elections they wanted to repeal that amendment, Go figure huh????. So here are the amendments I want. The President already has a two term limit that is 8 years total. Let’s do that with our house of Lords, the Senate, two terms would be 12 years; for the house of Commons, the congress, let’s do five term limits that would be 10 years. Perhaps then we could go back to the days when raising all of that money to hold on to that power position would not be as important as problem solving with that constituent that wants an appointment to discuss a “a real problem” for a “real voter” and not a corporate overlord.

While we are using the congress analogy of U. S. Football. This is the fourth quarter and the quarterback,[ that would be the U. S.] needs a Hail Mary pass to save the world economy. The front line, [that would be all of those nations like the U. K. that have loaned us money and been loyal to us], are tired and scared. Now if we don’t make that Hail Mary pass by August 2 to save the world from a GREAT DEPRESSION, how friendly are they going to be in the future, or would they just furlough the quarterback as to injured to repair?

So how many are with me No Pay for Congress and if they want a Constitutional Amendment we all have to vote for let’s throw in a couple of more, what do you say???
