Dr. Drew will be covering the Dr. Conrad Murray trail in the involuntary manslaughter charges in the case of Michael Jackson from gavel to gavel with a one hour show every night Monday – Friday at 9 PM EST – PST and 8 PM CST – MST. Straight Talk with John Nazarian will be covering the trial gavel to gavel Monday – Friday at 4 PM PST – 7 PM EST on live radio. The call in number is 1-818-572-8030 long distance charges to apply or call in using Skype internationally free.
Both will have excellent guest I feel sure.
Now that a jury is seated in the Michael Jackson death trial, with opening statements planned for Tuesday, Dr. Drew made it clear on his show last night that HLN will be covering the case every step of the way, gavel-to-gavel. The focus of the trial: how did the “King of Pop” really die? It’s a question the world has been asking for over two years. A Los Angeles County jury will decide whether Conrad is guilty of involuntary manslaughter. He’s accused of administering a fatal dose of a surgical anaesthetic to Jackson. A couple of Dr. Drew’s guests weighed in with their thoughts on the trial.
Judge Greg Mathis, host of “Judge Mathis,” explained how it’s possible for jurors to be impartial:
“The question is whether they can have a preconceived notion that is balanced and fair. Some folks might look at it and say ‘well I’m not sure, I just don’t know.’ And from what I’m hearing on both sides, eveyone has a point, and so I’m just going to wait and see. In fact, that’s what judges have to do, and so perhaps we have some of the juror candidates also that may have been able to have such a consideration.”
Brian Oxman, a close family friend of the Jackson family for over 24 years, said that it was fishy for Michael to announce a 50-date concert tour a couple months before he died:
“Everyone in this family knew full well, when 50 concerts were announced that this was a serious problem. I got a call from Latoya, who said, ‘Brian, he can’t do 50 concerts, they’re going to kill him!’”
What do you think? At the start of the trial, do you think that Jackson’s death was a conspiracy, or are you, like most jurors, going to wait and see what evidence is shown before making a decision?
Straight Talk with John J. Nazarian will kick off his coverage tonight with an in-depth look at the jury and what they might bring into this case or are any of them coming in their mind made up?
Nazarian’s show for September, 26, 2011, with John J. Nazarian co-host Vee Foster, guests Ken and Rose Turner:
Last night show with Nazarian had an error in it and for some reason you can not hear it her or on Straight Talk. I have downloaded the show because the guests were awesome and took like questions like the experts they are and answered them and with great insight. If we can retrieve the show from yesterday we will add an MP3 plugin to our site and load it for your listening pleasure.

Dr. Drew recently took a look at the jury selection process for the upcoming Dr. Conrad Murray trial with Judge Greg Mathis, host of “Judge Mathis”, and Jean Casarez, correspondent for Tru TV’s “In Session”. Dr. Drew and his guests examined the jury questionnaire administered to potential jurors to determine whether or not it will ensure impartiality. Dr Drew will be covering the latest in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray with an hour wrap up on HLN at 9 PM EDT.
Judge Mathis noted:
“Impartial juries are hard to come by with people as famous as Michael. But the good news is you’ll have critics who previously didn’t care for Michael, and then you’ll have fanatics who loved him to death, so it kind of offsets each other.”
Jean Casarez said that Murray’s defense attorney, Edward Chernoff, was extremely worried about stealth jurors who are only interested in making money off of the trial through interviews and book deals. She added:
“It’s interesting the judge said today to all the jurors that they would have to wait 90 days after the trial to accept any type of payment or benefit in regard to this trial and serving on this jury. An interesting thing jurors told right from the get-go.”
What do you think? Will the questionnaire ensure an impartial jury, or should the state use a more rigorous process when picking jurors for the Conrad Murray murder trial?

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor agreed to a motion by prosecutors to exclude six of Jackson’s former doctors — including Dr. Arnold Klein. He must be feeling like he got a get out of jail free card after the latest filings and counter claims in his bankruptcy.
In court papers filed Monday, defense attorneys Edward Chernoff and Nareg Gourjian alleged that Klein “administered frequent intramuscular injections of Demerol to Mr. Jackson for no valid medical purpose,” and that Jackson “became physiologically and psychologically dependent on Demerol.”
“I do not think it is relevant,” Judge Pastor said. Pastor also ruled that the defense could not make any reference to the 2003 search of Jackson’s ranch in Santa Barbara county, saying that it had no bearing on his death. So those drugs and the allegations of needle marks is out for Murray’s defense as well, what a win for the D. A. in this case.
Chernoff argued that the testimony would show that Jackson was “addicted to and withdrawing from Demerol” a factor Chernoff said was “important to our defense” . Judge Pastor said nope, no can do.
Pastor said he would allow testimony from two other doctors, Allen Metzger and David Adams. Murray’s defense team says Jackson asked Metzger in April 2009 to give him an intravenous sedative, a request the physician refused to grant.
Adams meanwhile gave Jackson the anesthetic propofol on four occasions in 2008, after the singer had oral surgery. Jackson also by many accounts used the drug as a sleep aid. Pastor also approved testimony from a nurse who treated Jackson in 2009.
Dr. Murray is facing charges for involuntary homicide in Jackson’s death on June 25, 2009. Murray could face up to four years in prison if convicted.
His defense team is expected to argue that Jackson gave himself an excessive dose of the drug while the doctor was out of the room at the singer’s mansion in the affluent Holmby Hills neighborhood near Los Angeles. The defense has also floated the theory that Jackson committed suicide.
Jury selection will begin on September 8, with opening statements scheduled for September 20 or 27.

Early morning on April 27, I am tooling down the 101 on my way to the “Stanley.” Traffic is light, I have my buddy Lisa Stanley of KRTH on the radio, I am enjoying my first cup of coffee and life is good.
…As I am parking my Hummer in my $20 parking space, who do I spot out of the corner of my eye, Thomas Mesereau, Lawyer. This guy for my money is one of the best defense attorneys in the United States, having successfully defended Michael Jackson and a host of other high-profile cases. Not too hard to miss, that long flowing white hair, just like I am not hard to miss either I guess. He too is at the Stanley…that is interesting I wonder why, that thought will be answered shortly.
Lining up to get into the courthouse who else do I see, none other than one of my pals, Ira Friedman, Lawyer and one of the funniest people you will meet. Here is an Ira moment in my life, sent to me in the form of an e-mail: “John do you know how bored I am?” – “No, Ira why?“ – “I am reading DESPERATEEXES” – “Thanks Ira!’…
…Making it through the security detail, I make my usual rounds and as in most days I either end up in Judge Trent Lewis’s, Judge Scott Gordon’s or Judge Fredrick Schaller’s courts. As I approach Department 88 who do I see, Thomas Mesereau, Ira Friedman, Larry Ginsburg, David Pasternak, and 7 or 8 other lawyers. Scattered in the group were several others and, not to be missed, a very well-dressed female, when I say well-dressed, what I am trying to convey is the “look.” I find out later she is the U.S. Attorney and is sitting and listening, sure listening in such a way that you know at some point she is going to drop a net on someone.
As I bounced around the Stanley I had just walked in on Salim Karimi of ADI fame, ADI in the course of several years got millions from cities to build housing for low income. In Glendale alone he got upwards of $33,000,000…well it was obvious now why a U.S. Attorney was sitting and listening. There are other cities in the “show me the money” line such as Los Angeles.
Guess what? This all came to light during a DIVORCE proceeding! Salim Karimi v Jannki Mithawaila…I often reflect on the old song by Johnnie Taylor, “ Cheaper to Keep Her”. Please, Mr. Karimi as you sit in India safely and out of reach of the authorities here in the United States…
…Karimi’s wife is represented by Larry Ginsburg, who did a stellar job of making my friend David Pasternak, the court-appointed receiver, feel like a pinata. The point that was being screamed (however quietly) was that Mr. Ginsburg wanted his client to have access to the $44,000,000 that Pasternak the receiver had in his accounts, as well as $600,000 in bullion. Larry Ginsburg was relentless and knew the law and was on target most of the time (Ginsburg did a great job in presenting his case as his client was moving around trying to avoid the inevitable). And a great deal more in property and business enterprises. …My thought was this, upon that money being released it will be in India in nano-seconds, or some other country less friendly to the U.S. and its concerns.
…Mr. Pasterank, release that money and now.” The pieces are now fitting together, Thomas Mesereau, criminal defense lawyer is representing Salim Karimi. His wife it is reported was being hidden away by bodyguards…Note: Sweetie you cannot hide from the Feds, bodyguards or not you will be bagged if the desire strikes that very well-dressed lady sitting in Dept. 88 (also I thought I saw at least one FBI agent in the audience). Judge Gordon makes it very clear that he is not going to be letting Mr. Pasternak continue as the divorce is off, good, now maybe everyone will stop taking swipes at Pasternak. Judge Gordon also made it clear that there would be procedures to follow and loose ends to tie up before he ordered Mr. Pasternak to do anything. It came out in court that numerous lawsuits were filed against Mr. Pasternak in the performance of his duties. Judge Scott Gordon in his very special way made it clear, very clear I thought, that Pasternak the receiver could be sued only if Judge Gordon said it was “OK” to sue him. Pasternak laid it all out, “no general ledgers,“ the other word David used was “Extraordinary” in reference to what Mr. Karimi and Co. had done. Another funny comment made by someone in court was that Mr. Karimi’s relatives were destroying records…”Noooooooo“…Once again, typical behavior of innocent people.
David Pasternak never lost focus and made it clear that Salim Karimi was not sitting in the poorhouse as he made off with $25,000,000 to his native India. It was also made very clear that a great deal of criminal activity had taken place (Mesereau) & (U.S. Attorney). Millions of dollars given to do good ended up in the hands of people not worthy of the trust that went with that assignment. It was also revealed very little if any taxes were paid! No real surprises in this story or the legal proceedings that will surely follow, and the best part, Mr. Salim Karimi was on a large screen, “Live” from India…
…Mr. Karimi the interesting thing is this, as I recall my time in India as a young man, if you in fact did any or ….
Nice article I noticed at Desperate Exes.com, there is a lot more to this article I think you will enjoy and while there read the tribute to Bijan Pakzad who was a fixture to Rodeo Drive.

This morning at the Stanley Mosk was a little like Little Big Horn, as in “The battle of.” On one side you have Ron Rale, lawyer and Lorrieee Howe…and on the other side, Mark Gross, lawyer and Marie A. LaMolinara, lawyer from the biggest divorce firm in the Valley, Brot & Gross. These guys are heavy hitters and will flex their legal ability as we were all hoping to see this morning in department 82. Ms. Howe wanted the court cleared for obvious reasons, it was a media storm, all anxiously waiting to find out why Brooke aka “mommy” was in an Inglewood pawn shop, and why “mommy” did not want to take a test either? Where and Why?
Well, let me tell you this, looking at Lorieee Howe sitting with Ron Rale outside the courtroom, Howe is looking like the captain of the Titanic looking for a pair of ice tongs. Just something about Ms. Howe, I have to wonder with all the talent at Trope and Trope, Howe??? Why??? Ron Rale is present, for sure, to try and fix a real mess. You can be assured that when Ron Rale shows up something needs to be adjusted or FIXED. And to get this case back on track after Ms. Mueller’s derailment last week. “I dont wanna test.” Remember you heard it here first when I stated that whoever was “handling” Brooke Mueller should be fired…
…This is a tough economy for sure, it is tough to make it on 50 grand a month, and if you can’t? Do what everyone else does, go to a pawn shop and get rid of few items. Hello!!!! Pawn shops have videos going 24 hours a day, like a bank, almost. So who is watching Ms. Mueller as she charges forward like a bull in a china shop? For sure not us! Well there on National TV is Ms. Mueller cutting a deal or shopping at the pawn shop in Inglewood, or at least it would appear that way…$50,000 a month, where does that fit into taking care of two kids? Refusing to test? Where does that fit in raising two kids? There are some very nice pawn shops closer to her home.
Well, today we have Mark Gross and he is in full attack mode, he knows he has Mueller right where he wants her. Gross is like a handmade, finally tuned revolver, when he fires off his mouth you know it is going to be a little painful. This is also why I believe that Ron Rale was brought in, another tough cookie. Quite frankly Howe could have remained in the office…hmm, I have to wonder if someone left the door unlocked and do they know Ms. Howe has left the building? Mueller was not doing well this morning in court as she walked in. Sure, …she needed something else, maybe some sound sleep? She was real rough around the edges, jagged edges. Judge Hank Goldberg threw everyone out of his court “for the sake of the children,”… …It is too bad actually for all of us that I could not hear the defense of Mueller, what defense, another “mommy” who does not get it. Life is tough for Ms. Mueller and the court will try to keep it all quiet and private…
…Charlie [Sheen] showed up looking great, fresh and rested… …In the end the judge left everything the “same.” One has to wonder what goes through a bench officers mind to leave it all the “same.” Now we dont know what other stipulations are in place, more monitoring, more testing (if she will participate), and more likely more Ron Rale! It was very obvious to all present that it was Rale’s job to try and fix this mess.
Mr. Gross knew he had Mueller’s legal team right where he wanted them, and knowing Mr. Gross he will be circling from above like an eagle watching and waiting for his “bunny” to go hip hopping back to Inglewood! Or…another fascinating location someplace in La La land, give her time and of course enough rope.
When Brooke [Mueller] left the courthouse she went in the opposite direction of her car and driver and the media just did the media crush. … Not Charlie, he rolled out of the courthouse smooth and uninterrupted, like he was “winning.”
Mark Gross, Lawyer, Brot & Gross, LLP 15260 Ventura Boulevard, Suite 1500, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403 818-594-0800
Ron Rale, Lawyer, Partner at Trope & Trope, 12121 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 801, Los Angeles, CA 90025
Lori Howe, who cares and how did she get out of the building
Here are a couple of papers we found, one of Charlie Sheen vs Warner Brother’s Studio and Chuck Lorre and the other is the Restraining Order filed against Charlie Sheen by Brook Mueller

After a very long vacation from the Stanley Mosk, I returned to my favorite stomping grounds and who do I run into but a face and a name from the past! Jackie Earle Haley, the kid star from a million years ago, he was born in 1961 but why does it seem like, “Years.” Simple he as been around since a cute little kid with shaggy hair and blue eyes…cute is gone but still a great actor and from were I was standing he seemed like a real nice guy. Soft spoken and very low key, he has a real sense of calm about him as does his former love of his life, it is all very calm. You see, it is possible to be reasonable.
Mr. Haley was there with his attorney, Terry Levich Ross, of the firm Silberberg & Ross, this is a lawyer. There is something that is very likable about her, she is firm and keeps a stern look most of the time. Try talking to her and you will find a softer underside…hmm, a little like myself…
…On the other side representing Windy O’Reilly, Mr. Haley’s ex, is none other than Attorney Joseph P. Koenig, with one of the premier firms in the city, Trope and Trope. Joseph always has an air of confidence and for a good reason, he too is relentless and to watch Miss Ross and Mr. Koenig was a little like watching two cobras. Koenig has a friendly air about him but don’t assume you are going to step on him, he too has a great command of the English language. The feeling is that neither trust the other (lawyers), that is perfect for the world of divorce…no one can trust anyone! Mr. Koenig too is on his own and is watching and waiting as is Miss. Ross. Watching and waiting for what you ask, well Mr. Haley and Ms. O’Reilly are sitting and talking and the two are so at peace that I am convinced that they could repeat their vows. The two spoke for what seemed like hours and never once raised their voices. It was refreshing, two reasonable people talking over very personal issues and two highly competent lawyers watching and waiting…in the end, “Hugs, kisses and pats on the back. ” I had to step back and assure myself that I was on the 8th floor at the Stanley Mosk and that this is DIVORCE court.
We should all wish, Mr. Haley and Ms. O’Reilly all the best and they should both be grateful that they had two of the best lawyers in Southern California keeping it all together.
