Michael Trope has hit the grand slam home run of Family Law. He hit the ball right out of the park with the bases loaded for his client, Lisa Kerkorian. As some of you will remember when she had Kolodny and Anteau as her lawyers pretty much all of what she said on the phone was being shared with Kirk Kerkorian’s lawyer Christensen …Anthony Pellicano know who else through wiretaps… …and Terry Christensen lost his ability to practice law…disbarred….

…1. Lisa did not get a fair trial in 2002 because her lawyers were compromised with wire taps…..

2. Michael Trope was asking that everything be set aside as it was an “unfair” trial. And this was the only reasonable thing the court could do…a great position to take.

3. All previous evidence would have to be purged, tossed, thrown out, dumped…why? It was all obtained through illegal conduct…

4. …Kirk Kerkorian crew would not be allowed to present any new evidence and all of the other stuff would be tossed…

…. Now, for the big turn, a change of direction, we got a fresh attitude. I wrote on May 12, 2010 that the Judge orders lotsa bacon for Lisa Da K lawyers.” That day, it is my opinion that Joe Mannis, not being anyone’s fool saw what the exposure could be for his client and began to chart a new course. The actions and comments that day by Judge Steinberg made it clear that it was not going to be business as usual when it came to Lisa Kerkorian and her lawyer, Michael Trope. The other side representing Kirk Kerkorian had committed serious crimes and…

…The deal has been floating around it looks like since July 8, 2010, my birthday! The agreement was finalized and signed… …October 22, 2010. UPDATE ADDITION: The settlement, which provides $100,000 a month until Kira turns 19 or until she graduates from high school, no longer is a full-time student or no longer is living with her mother full-time. After that, the settlement says, the child support will be reduced to $50,000 a month.

The agreement also provides for Kerkorian to pay expenses including school costs, equestrian expense, clothing, housing, travel, hobbies, automobiles, food, beauty treatments, tutoring, entertainment, parties and pets.

The AP reports that Lisa was married to Kerkorian for only 28 days and admitted that their daughter, Kara was not his biological daughter, but Kerkorian has loved her and been involved in her life as her “dad” since day one.

Wonder how much the Court awarded Michael Trope in attorney fees? Perhaps John J. Nazarian will get that scoop and share it with us as well.

Well it was smackdowns and laughs in Department 2 this morning at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. Real funny for some and real sad for others. Department 2 is the domain of Judge Steinberg and the judge was sticking with her “tentative”..$489,254.05. Yup, she did it and this was an interim fee award without prejudice to request MORE!!!!! More??!! This judge got it and understood clearly what was being done in her court and did the right thing! And you know, the rich are different and should pay when they can to “keep the monkeys dancing.”

Who might you ask were the actors in this divorce drama???? Lisa Kerkorian was in court today with her lawyers, Michael Trope and his partner Patrick DeCarolis, it was strange, these two divorce titans said pretty much nothing…almost church-like! Their paperwork was submitted and there they sat waiting for a decision from Judge Steinberg. NOW, on the other side representing the 41st richest man in the world were Joe Mannis and Robert Kipper, who might you ask is their client? None other than Kirk Kerkorian, who is a very rich old fellow, born in Fresno on June 6, 1917. (I had the chance to meet him for a few seconds during his appearance in Federal Court in defense of his former lawyer and good friend, Terry Christensen. During the Anthony Pellicano wire tapping trial. He was twice as entertaining as Chris Rock …)

Joe Mannis was beside himself as he was throwing all he could to get the Judge not to give this huge sum of money to Lisa’s lawyers….

This is more than huge money, Michael Trope and his client Lisa K can go back to court and likely get more in the weeks and months to come. This is bad for the rich old guy, now the former love of his life can fight him with his own money! If I were Mr. Mannis I would hope that Mr. Kerkorian does not have the volume turned up on his hearing aid when his assistant tells him that he got hammered in Los Angeles this morning…then again one must reflect that you cannot take all that money with you…

Note: It would appear that this year Mr. Kerkorian has been very generous to a few lawyers here in Los Angeles…”what was that clicking sound on my phone?”…

When I arrived at the courthouse this morning, the cameras rushed to my car. I told my driver that they would be very disappointed when the door opened, and they were…it was me, not the star mogul of the day.

Ms. Glaser was present with a few other members of “the” firm, a united front is very obvious in this case and why not, after all folks that’s how this firm rolls, and Christensen deserves all that they can bring to the table…including the table. Did I see a “lawyer” who was sitting on the Shapiro “throne” get up and move when Shapiro returned to the courtroom? LMAO…Bob has been resting in a cushioned chair that is often assigned to courtroom security… Bob, this is a federal courtroom and it is first come first serve even for lawyers…I am only kidding, as the bench seats are almost impossible to take a nap in…pillow, anyone?

The defense called Melanie Madlis, Esq., an associate at Dennis Wasser’s office. Hmmm how do I do this delicately, she was dressed very nicely and came across as a bit of a “ditz.” Sorry, she seemed very sweet and even at times aloof…her hair was nice! She spoke well, duh! I have to stop, Dennis will never use me again…Ooops, I was just told that that firm has never used me. She was dressed nicely!

Well, the time had come for the star defense witness in the wiretapping case against Mr. Christensen, his longtime client Kirk Kerkorian. The courtroom was packed, and there he was, the last of American Icons. The billionaire looked great, he had an older gentleman with him who looked older than Kirk, who is 91 years old…what a life! Having met some very I guess famous people, seeing him was a real experience. He walked straight, great hair, and spoke very well. He makes more money in an afternoon than many will make in a lifetime. When asked what business he was in, he stated that he was in the Oil, Gaming and Auto business. The judge gave him 2 minutes to tell the audience, a light-hearted moment as it would have taken hours for this titan to cover his achievments! As to his beginnings, he said that he bought a plane and the rest is history…all with his 7th grade education, there will never be another Kirk Kerkorian.

As Kerkorian spoke, it was obvious that he has the greatest respect for Terry Christensen, “a true friend or he would not be around me”…how about that for a comment…he did not stutter! Kirk mentioned that he thought that they met shortly after Terry got out of the Marines. …

…When prosecutor Lally was trying to address KK, he appeared out of sorts and at one point had no idea what he was asking and conferred with Mr. Saunders. I like these two guys, but they began to look a little like Abbott and Costello and “who’s on first?!”
