Dr Drew appears on HLN weeknights at 9 PM EST & PST which is 8 PM CST and MST.
HLN’s Dr. Drew was joined by Dr. Klein’s attorney Garo Ghazarian to discuss Michael Jackson’s alleged addiction to Propofol and how different doctors contributed to or attempted to stem the King of Pop’s use of the drug that ultimately killed him. The two quick talkers exchanged volley after volley of quips and arguments about the medical and legal implications of how Dr. Klein and other doctors were left in the dark about which and how much drugs Michael Jackson was being given.
Dr. Drew said of Murray’s care strategy:
”Insomnia is like saying fever. It’s a symptom. It’s not a diagnosis… My point is that Dr. Murray was treating withdrawal systems, not insomnia. It’s the multiplicity of drugs here is amazing… Murray is the guy at the center of the hurricane. He knew what was going on here. He was the primary care doctor here.”
Ghazarian was quick to point out that his client was not in the least aware of what was happening:
“Why do you think Dr. Klein is furious with Dr. Murray? It’s because he didn’t know his existence!”
The final arguments should be completed today. How long do you think the jury will be out? If convicted that Dr. Conrad Murray might serve any sentence under home arrest with an ankle bracelet? Do you think he will see the inside of prison in California?

On Monday night’s show of Dr. Drew, which airs Monday – Friday at 9 PM EST – 8 PM CST on HLN; Dr. Drew was joined by truTV’s In Session host Ryan Smith to discuss the latest in the Conrad Murray trial, as the state rested its case on Monday. The defense called Dr. Allan Metzger to the stand on Monday to show the jury that Michael Jackson was seeking and getting drugs from other doctors at the same time Dr. Conrad Murray was working as his full-time physician. Defense lawyers will use this week to challenge the prosecution’s contention that Dr. Conrad Murray’s alleged reckless use of propofol to help Jackson sleep makes him criminally responsible for the King of Pop star’s death. But when the prosecution began questioning Dr. Metzger, his testimony appeared to be working in their favor at certain points.
Ryan Smith was quick to comment on Metzger’s statements:
“It just goes to show that even with this witness being a defense witness, he [Dr. Metzger] came off like a prosecution witness because he said ‘no matter what was going on here, I never would have done what Conrad Murray did,’ and he said he wouldn’t do it for money. That really hammered home a point.”
Dr. Drew explained:
”They’re trying to prove negligence, but doing very little conversation about the quality of medical care … I get so frustrated with this case. I have to tell you. I have a thing I keep on hand to remind me how outrageous it was, This man, Michael Jackson, went to bed every night with this because he was so sedated that he couldn’t function. He couldn’t get up to go to the bathroom. As an addictionologist – all the multiple prescribing doctors not communicating with each other – bad timing – Michael Jackson got the worst my profession has to offer.”
What do you think? Did Dr. Metzger’s testimony help or hurt the defense’s case?
What do all you think about the latest news that Dr. Conrad Murray might serve any sentence under home arrest with an ankle bracelet?

Dr Drew’s show airs every night on HLN at 9 PM PST and EST and 8 PM MST and CST. On Monday night, Dr. Drew and his experts discussed how the defense team in the Conrad Murray trial planned to take time on Tuesday to study new lab test results the prosecution contends show Michael Jackson did not ingest a fatal overdose of sedatives. The testing was ordered at the request of the prosecution after Murray’s defense argued that Jackson swallowed eight tablets of the sedative lorazepam. The results show “a much smaller amount of lorazepam in the stomach that is totally inconsistent with oral consumption of lorazepam tablets,” Deputy District Attorney David Walgren revealed at a hearing Monday.
Criminal defense attorney Mark Eiglarash explained his surprising take:
“I am one of the few people that say the new evidence is beneficial to Conrad Murray. Yeah, I said it. I’ll tell you why. If this judge allows this to come into evidence at this point in the trial, it almost guarantees Conrad Murray a free trial. This is coming back on appeal.”
However, Trent Copeland, who is also a criminal defense attorney, said that he didn’t think it is a “trial by ambush.” He argued:
“I think what will happen [is] they’ll make it an issue on appeal. The fact is, they have to make it an issue that confuses the jury. The reality is that the defense had an opportunity to conduct their own tests, the prosecution conducted their own tests and now they have to fight it out in court over who believes their test is the most appropriate test.”
The trial, in its fourth week, is still expected to conclude with the start of jury deliberations next week. If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, the maximum sentence Murray could face is four years in prison and the loss of his medical license.
Straight Talk with John J Nazarian will air live at 4 PM PST – 7 PM EST this week and on Sunday at 6 PM PST – 9 PM EST with guests renown M. E. Dr. Cyril Wecht and his co-author Dawna Kaufmann.

The theme was running the same whether listening to Straight Talk with John J. Nazarian which airs at 4 PM PST; or Dr. Drew on HLN which airs on HLN at 9 PM EST and PST and 8 PM CST and MST. Appears the experts agrees this trial is a runaway, and the defense is changing daily as to what they are going to present as a reason for the overdose death of Michael Jackson.
We will embed shows on three days of each of the shows including my opinion on Straight Talk with John J. Nazarian this week.
Anesthesiologist on Michael Jackson trial: “Never abandon the patient”
Dr. John Dombrowski, an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, appeared on Dr. Drew’s HLN show Tuesday night to discuss one of the most chilling moments of the Conrad Murray trial – the playing of an audio recording that contained Michael Jackson slurring his speech, which was allegedly taped by Dr. Murray. For many, that recording is proof that the King of Pop suffered from substance abuse. However, Dr. Murray alleges that he had no idea that other doctors were supplying Jackson with drugs, in his jaw-dropping statement to police.
Dombrowski said:
“When a patient comes to me in the operating room, I have to know every medication he or she is on, so I know how the anesthetic will interact with the individual.”
And ended the interview with another significant point:
“Any time you give anyone an anesthetic, you never leave the patient. You don’t say, ‘he self-administered – he drank it – went someplace else.’ I am always there in attendance to find out what goes on. You never abandon the patient at any time.”
Conrad Murray’s relationship with Michael Jackson: “You can’t be a physician and a friend”
On Wednesday night, Dr. Drew addressed the issue of a few other physicians who treated Jackson that have claimed to be friends with the superstar. Last week, we heard tapes of Dr. Conrad Murray being questioned by detectives. In that interview, Murray stated that Michael Jackson was his friend. Guest Dr. Mark Urman, cardiologist and board member of the American Heart Association explained that it’s “very easy to get enamored” with somebody who’s famous.
Dr. Mark Urman said that it’s all about boundaries:
“You have to make it clear, and I do this with all my patients, that there are certain things that are allowable [and] there are certain things that aren’t. Just because somebody is trying to press you into doing something, you know, is not right, you feel uncomfortable about it, and it’s not good medical practice. You’ve got to take a stand.”
Dr. Drew summed up his thoughts later in the show by stating:
“You can’t be physician and friend … it’s dangerous. Boundaries become unclear … and when people have a substance problem, that’s where it really goes off the rail.”
Last night on The Dr. Drew Show, guest host Ryan Smith and his panel of attorneys discussed the latest on the Conrad Murray trial. Now that the Defense is dropping its original claim that Michael Jackson swallowed a fatal dose of Propofol, the experts took a deeper look to determine whether or not they think the Defense’s case is crumbling right before our eyes!
Mark Eiglarsh, criminal defense attorney, explained that the Defense is losing the case by asking the Prosecution’s witnesses open-ended questions that highlight Murray’s guilt:
“Most of the highlights of this trial that are against Conrad Murray happen on cross-examination. You get in, you get out, you ask leading questions and you don’t give [the Prosecution's] experts another opportunity to just go all over your client and highlight why he’s guilty.”
Darren Kavinoky agreed, saying that the Defense should use cross-examination as an opportunity highlight Murray’s innocence:
“Actually, cross-examination is the Defense lawyer’s stock in trade. You get more points by cross-examining the other side’s witnesses than you ever do by putting on your own. The jurors always expect that your witnesses are going to be favorable to you. It’s the good stuff, those nuggets you get from the other guy’s witnesses that turn cases.”
What do you think? Could Conrad Murray really have been in the dark about the drugs other doctors were administering to Michael Jackson?
Was Conrad Murray overstepping his bounds by being Michael Jackson’s friend? Or does his friendship with Michael Jackson make the case that he would not want to murder a friend?
Does the Defense stand a chance in winning the case?

On Wednesday night, October 5, 2011, Dr. Drew, which airs at 9 PM EST & PST and 8 PM CST and MST, sat down with Attorney Lauren Lake about the one topic that’s been the elephant in the room during the entire Murray trial: Michael Jackson’s alleged addiction. Lake contests that Michael Jackson’s ability to make those around him rich and powerful made his closest friends and confidants sell him out, enabling his habit for their own gain. Harsh words! Now that’s some real talk!
Lake took a hard line, saying this about the prosecution’s attempt to paint Dr. Murray as the sole accomplice to the King of Pop’s alleged addiction:
“We have to say the unpopular thing. The thing that people don’t want to hear is that Michael Jackson was addicted. He had a problem! In this very moment as we still try to cover up his addiction… is the very problem that lead to his death. Everyone around him didn’t want to believe it and they didn’t want to own it, because he made them money.”
On Wednesday night, October 5, 2011, on the Joy Behar Show, which airs right after Dr. Drew at 10 PM EST & PST and 9 PM CST and MST, Joy spoke to Mark Geragos, former attorney for Michael Jackson, and sleep expert Michael Breus to discuss the effects of insomnia on Michael Jackson. Joy’s experts broke down Michael’s behavior to try to determine if his insomnia made him crazy, and if the defense’s case that Jackson died from a “self-administered dose of Propofol” holds water.
Joy asked if Michael’s insomnia could be part of the defense’s strategy, to which Geragos answered:
“Part of what the defense is trying to say or suggest is that look, this is somebody who was desperate to get to sleep. That’s one of the reasons that he ingested the Propofol, that Dr. Murray was there trying to ween him off of it.”
Breus talked about some of the dangers people today face if afflicted with insomnia:
“The reason that there are so many people out there on medication is, insomnia, because it’s so complicated, many people don’t actually ever see a sleep specialist because of it. I end up seeing patients who’ve already been placed on multiple medications before because their general practitioner has said, ‘well try this, well try that.’”
Who’s responsible for telling a star when they’ve gone too far? Murray’s the one on trial, but how much of the blame does he deserve? Shouldn’t a doctor be the voice of reason in a situation like this? What do you think? Did Michael Jackson’s insomnia cause his own death, or is Dr. Conrad Murray still guilty of feeding his addiction to sleep medications?

21. Sade Anding — ex-girlfriend from Houston
22. Nicole Alvarez — Murray’s current girlfriend in Los Angeles
23. Tim Lopez — Applied Pharmacy Las Vegas
On Monday night, October 3, 2011, Dr. Drew, which airs at 9 PM EST & PST and 8 PM CST and MST, sat down with his guests to play a game of true or false to make sense of what’s happening in the Michael Jackson death trial. They ran through everything, from Murray’s actions before and after Michael Jackson’s death, to the science behind the drug interaction that caused his tragic death. With so much emotion around the case, the hard facts are more important than ever.
True or false? Propofol is not a drug that is used outside of a hospital setting. Dr. John Dombrowski responded:
“To [the defense's] point, what is the definition of a hospital? A physician’s office? An ambulatory center? …But there [would] be an attendant Anesthesiologist caring for that patient. There’s never ever a case where it’s done in a home setting to assist sleep.”
What do you think? Did Dr. Murray stray too far from conventional medical procedure? What could motivate him to do that? As the pieces continue to fall into place, does the defense have any credibility left?

On Friday night, September 30, 2011, Dr. Drew, which airs at 9 PM EST & PST and 8 PM CST and MST, spoke with body language expert Mark Edgar Stephens about what clues Conrad Murray had revealed by his posture, movements, and facial expressions. As Edgar explains how the jury is likely to interpret these subtle clues, one thing becomes clear: the psychological drama here is intense!
Though Dr. Murray has remained deliberately “stone faced” during the trial, Edgar has noted various “micro expressions” that could lead to larger revelations:
“What we’re seeing most with him is sadness. At the moment that he broke down and he cried, he really showed that there is sadness. So then the question becomes ‘Is it sadness for what’s happened to Michael?’ or “Is it sadness for what’s happening in his own life?
What do you think? How is the jury going to interpret Dr. Murray’s body language? Does his constant note taking make him seem credible and in control or more calculating and cold?
