There is a show for every fool in this part of the country called “Southern California” and more specifically Los Angeles. Some of these fools are what are affectionately called “Armos” aka Armenian crooks and lowlifes, they can be naturally entertaining. You see one of the “stars” of this comedy is none other than Hovik Dzhuryan, and he is driving down the freeway when he has to “Slam on the brakes.” In doing so he puts into the works the land of car wrecks and those even more famous soft tissue injuries that insurance companies just don’t pay off as much as they once did, nope they don’t, they would rather pay Michael G. Hogan, Lawyer…more on him later.
Many of us motorist have seen the little shaved heads and other characteristics that I won’t go into speeding along our streets and highways in their little BMWs and Mercedes playing that annoying Middle Eastern music or the other favorite RAP with their windows open rain or shine. And then what do these special drivers like to do, slam those brakes…the species is known in the world of cops and investigators as “Armos”.
Hovik Dzhuryan is the same person who was indicted for his involvement in the Mike Yepremyan murder! For some great reading on how not to have an accident, go and review case number 10C01834 (Auto Tort-Limited). It was Dzhuryan v Bayburtyan, both of these it appears were “Armos“ at the wheels! Hovik was represented by Levon (aka “Leon”) Kirakosian, lawyer, we can all hope that Mr. Kirakosian will also represent Dzhuryan in his criminal matter, good job!
Representing Mercury Insurance on the other hand was one of the toughest defense attorneys in Southern California Michael G. Hogan. Hogan’s claim to fame is defending against FRAUD, no! Stop the presses, no not an “Armo“ fraud case? I guess from the way that Mercury defended this claim that is what they were thinking. All we can say is that from what we hear Kirakosian had met his match when Michael G. Hogan showed up. The first thing I understand is that there would be NO $25,000 award to Hovik Dzhuryan, as a matter of fact the jury came back with a verdict in less than 25 minutes, nothing, not a dime, zilch, the big razzberry for the likes of Mr. H. Dzhuryan and his wonderful lawyer Kirakosian.
Well it was just another dismal day in Department #3, this is the court of the Honorable Judge John P. Doyle. What was the upside of all this? Mercury Insurance got to keep their $25,000 and their in-house Special Investigations Unit (aka FRAUD unit) had “bagged” another “Armo,“ Hovik Dzhuryan.

Richard Senneff still on the stand under cross by [Joseph] Low.
…Q: Left off where the hospital gave you the choice to call it (the death).
Senneff: That’s not correct. When we give our third round of meds we update vital sings of any changes. Read all the information. There was no change in the patient.
They (UCLA) said, “We’d like to call it.” It’s their call…
…Q: Was there at some point did Dr. Murray say that he had found a pulse?
Senneff: Yes he did. (Murray claimed he felt a pulse in the femoral artery; this large artery is in the leg close to the groin.)
As soon as he said it, the first thing I did was look at the monitor….
… REDIRECT
DDA. Mr. [David]Walgren
DDA Q: Asking about femoral pulse during treatment.
Senneff: When Dr. Murray said he felt a pulse, not one of the other paramedics had felt a pulse. There can be a “false” pulse during CPR compressions. They stopped compressions for a few seconds, and then resumed. He did not feel a pulse….
… DDA Q: Your opinion of this patient was based on the surroundings, the IV, the look of the patient, quite thin and pale, the doctor being there. In fact, it was your opinion that the patient was dead.
…. DDA Q: You thought it was inaccurate that the doctor said the patient had just gone down with the call?
Senneff: Yes sir.
DDA Q: (Re-verifies with the witness) That you are comfortable with a time that the patient went down prior to your arrival?
Senneff: “20 minutes to an hour.”….
Witness #7—Paramedic Martin Blount
….. Dr. Murray was the one who opened the door and requested help. He noticed that Dr. Murray was sweating profusely…. … He did hear Dr. Murray being asked if the patient had been given any drugs and Dr. Murray said no. Dr. Murray explained that the reason there was an IV was because the patient had been dehydrated….
…Blount noticed the IV wasn’t operating properly, so they were looking for a site on the arms to insert a new IV. Blount said, “To me, the temperature of Jackson’s skin was cool.”…
… He observed that the patient’s eyes were “blown” [ed. note: blown means large and unresponsive to light]. It was Blount’s opinion, from observing the body, that the patient was dead….
… CROSS by Low
Going over his testimony of questions that Dr. Murray was asked. Questioning Blount about how long he thought Michael Jackson had been down, Blount verifying that it was his impression that the patient looked deceased when he first came in the room. Verifies that he testified that he thought the patient’s skin was cool….
… REDIRECT
DDA Q: If someone has no viable heart rhythm, then blood cannot be circulating through the body one of the things that happens is the veins collapse and they can be difficult to access.
Blount: Correct.
Witness #8— Harry Daliwal
DDA Debrah Brazil direct.
…Daliwal…. Access over phone records, text messages.
Witness #9 Jeff Strohm
Strohm: I work for Sprint Nextel communications where I am a custodian of records. As a custodian I’m responsible for testifying.
Responsible for various types of legal commands.

…. The patient had no sign of life. The pupils were fixed and dilated. The patient was dead on arrival to UCLA. Despite that condition, they attempted to revive the patient. No pulse; no other signs of trauma. Proceeded to administer other drugs. Patient is still being ventilated and CPR is continuing and cardiac monitors on the patient….

Kenneth Ortega 1st witness.
District Attorney David Walgren, Diazepam Direct examination of Kenny Ortega:
…DW: Some days were Michael Jackson performing, dancing?
KO: On some days, yes. Michael was involved in every decision creatively on the show. He was the last word creatively on everything….
Meeting at Michael Jackson’s home on June 20, 2009
…DW: What happened at this meeting?
KO: (It) quickly became clear that the meeting was about me. That the Dr. was upset that I had sent Michael home and didn’t allow him to rehearse the night before. And because I had voiced my concerns about Michael’s health that evening. Dr. Murry told me that this was not my responsibility and to not act like a doctor or a psychologist and to leave Michael’s health to him….
June 24, 2009 rehearsal (Michael Jackson’ s last rehearsal:
…KO: He was bold, active, and participating in the entire production. Had a conversation with Michael. We had two wonderful days of rehearsals. (He was?) feeling good, confident. (One) could feel it everywhere in the entire room. (I) Asked Michael if he was happy. He said he was very happy. Said he felt very good there in the room and appreciated (everything and) to tell the crew and everyone that he really appreciated ( everything).
(For the following day, the 25th) He was very excited since he was going to rehearse an illusion.
Objection to narrative. Sustained.
He was excited about the illusion trick they were going to rehearse the next day. That concluded the rehearsal. Michael said goodnight and they finished shortly thereafter.
June 25, 2009 the Day Micael Jackson died:
6/25/2009: At some point he learned that something happened. He received a telephone call while he was rehearsing. Earlier, he had spoken to Randy Phillips and was on his way to rehearsal. I asked him to, “Please let Michael know how excited I am and how much I look forward to rehearsals.”
(Randy Phillips said?) I thought you were calling for a different reason.
For the rest of this by Kenneth Ortega’s testimony as well as Michael Amir Williams who at one point describes Michael Jackson’s children at UCLA.

Prosecution Witnesses
1 Kenneth Ortega (Co-director, Co-creator, THIS IS IT tour)
2 Michael Amir Williams (Personal Assistant to Michael Jackson)
3 Faheem Mohamed (Head of Jackson’s security)
David Walgren presents the opening statement.
DW: Documents will show the emails placed by Dr. Murray and the telephone calls that were given Dr. Murray began his treatment by giving Michael a Valium pill. that was followed by and IV at 2 am with midazolam ( a benzodiazepine). At 3 am, that was followed by another sedative given through the IV. At 5 am, another treatment of diazepam. According to Dr. Murray between 1 and 10 am in the morning he slowly infused Michale with Propofol.
…..Dr. Murray is having Alveraz help him collect various bottles of medicine, medical paraphernalia medical bottles, wrappings, and dropping them in (his medical?) bag. Dr. Murray tells Alvarez to grab the bag on the IV that was hanging. Alberto Alvarez grabs that bag and places it in with the other items.. It’s only then he is told to call 911. The 911 was placed at 12 21 pm.
….The fact that Propofol was given in a home setting instead of a surgical room, without the assisting medical equipment. The fact that no attending staff or assistants was made available for Dr. Murray. The fact that it was given in conjunction with several benzodiazepine’s. The fact that he was trying to do CPR with one hand on a bed. (The fact that there was a failure to maintain any appropriate medical records, and the failure to advise the paramedics or treating medical doctors (to the medications/treatment given).
This is the end of the prosecution’s opening statement. From this alone, it sounds bad for Dr. Murray.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor is overseeing the Preliminary hearing on Dr. Conrad Murray. When assigned the case Judge Pastor made the disclosure he was friends with then California Attorney General Jerry Brown, stating that Brown had placed him on the bench twenty seven years ago. Abiding by ethics requirements, Judge Pastor also disclosed he had written a recommendation for Deputy District Attorney David Walgren, the prosecutor in the case who has applied for a judgeship. Pastor said they are not personal friends, and he would not have a conflict in trying the case. Neither side filed within the ten days to recuse the judge.
Sources have told the media the preliminary hearing will last about two to three weeks and they will be twenty-five to thirty witnesses. Earlier in the week the D. A. shot down the gossip that Micheal Jackson’s oldest son would be called as a witness at this time. However producer/director, Kenny Ortega, of Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It,’ is expected to be one of the state’s top witnesses. sources told media that Ortega will testify at Dr. Conrad Murray’s preliminary hearing on manslaughter charges today and that he will make it clear that he thinks Murray is responsible for Jackson’s death.
Katherine Jackson and two of Micheal Jackson’s siblings entered the court this morning and Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, is expected to be there daily for the hearings. The Jackson family maintains that Murray is the fall guy in a larger conspiracy to harm Jackson, perhaps because of the insurance the promoter took out on Jackson’s life. Brian Oxman, Joe Jackson’s attorney maintains that a conspiracy did occur. Oxmann acknowledged that Micheal Jackson was an addict which made what Murray and others gave Jackson criminal neglect.
Thomas Mesereau went on MSNBC yesterday to make as statement saying on national television, [that]“The defense lawyers have to do something and what they’re gonna try and do is reflect attention away from their client and onto Michael Jackson. The reality is Michael Jackson was not suicidal, he was not self-destructive in the way they’re trying to say, and hopefully their defense will not succeed. I’m sorry that the defense is going to have to bash Michael Jackson to try and divert attention from their guilty client”
The prosecution team is led by Deputy District Attorney David Walgren. Murray’s team consists of defense lawyers, Michael Flanagan of Glendale, and Ed Chernoff of Houston, Texas. There have been hints that Murray’s defense team will put on witnesses during the preliminary hearing which could be began to show the defense they intend to pursue. The defense is not obligated to put on witnesses at this stage so that is interesting
It is generally considered extremely difficult to win criminal negligence cases against doctors, whose professional judgments juries tend not to second-guess – in fact, it’s by no means a foregone conclusion that Judge Pastor will order the case to trial.
That said remember that the bar for going to trial is very low for the prosecution to reach, in most state you can almost get a ham and cheese sandwich held over for trial.
Dr. Conrad Murray is only charged with involuntary manslaughter, for some reason giving a known addict dangerous drugs were not charged against Murray or any other doctors who treated Jackson over the years. On June 25th, 2009, Jackson died of a overdose of propofol, a prescription anesthesia drug normally used in hospitals during surgery.
Our friend, Spocket reported today on her blog that the Court’s PIO has recognized her as a member of the media. Sproket has covered other trial before Judge Pastor. Sproket stated that there would be no video or media transmitting from inside the courtroom. Computers and blackberries can only be used for note taking. All media reporting must be done from outside the courtroom. This rule also applies for the media overflow room. There is a lottery for the media to get seats in the courtroom as well as the overflow room, Sproket will have an update on her site about 1:30 PM PST today which is 3:30 PM CST. Be sure to keep up with Sproket’s detailed coverage on her blog, “Trials and Tribulations.
In other news about Murray, a Las Vegas federal prosecutor announced that U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden issued a statement that Dr. Conrad Murray has agreed to pay the federal government $1.25 million after prosecutors say he inflated health care claims for surgeries and supplies. There are also civil proceedings in Harris County Texas by Murray’s malpractice insurance company disputing that they do not have to cover Murray’s criminal defense only malpractice suits.

“Former Bell Police Chief Randy Adams had himself declared disabled,” what did he do? “Even as he was hired for the post”, that being the Top Cop of the little town of Bell, CA, under the control of some of the most corrupt officials in the United States! At this point someone might want to check his ability to make good decisions.
Randy Adams, at one time the chief of police of Glendale, pulled a fast one here also, except it is being reported that “Da Chief” was going to go for less of a “Payola” scam and was asking for a “non-disability” when he was leaving Glendale…but “stop the presses,” he rescinded that request and went to work for the City of Bell! OH NO HE DIDN’T! Yup he did, Da Chief went to Bell and told them that he had neck and back injuries…he was found to be unfit and was hired anyway!!! Yea, for Chief Randy! I bet he had a nice comfy seat in his car, too, for those long drives to the bank.
Boy, has police worked changed or what people, how about all the veterans coming home who want a job as a cop and have some small medical issues, find Mr. Randy and see if he can give you some advice… … hire an American hero coming back from war? This could be a new career for Mr. Randy…
…Of course Da Chief Randy Adams has a lawyer now who states in the L.A. Times, “Mr. Adams wanted to make sure that the city was well aware of his physical capabilities…He made all of that clear upfront. He didn’t want the city to come back and say we didn’t know you had a bad back”. My thought: would that not have been Glendale’s problem? Oh, but this was a huge pay check and would also bump him into the higher PERS pension plan too…oh I get it chief, I get it…so does the district attorney and the attorney general of the state of California…this looks like FRAUD to me, it was a set up from the get go. The question I have is when does “MR.” Randy Adams do the perp walk, and who will slap those famous Smith and Wesson silver bracelets on? Recommendation: CHICKIES BAIL BONDS…tell them I suggested them to you.
This wizard of medical disability was earning $475,000 a year! And that would have given him about $411,0000 a year in retirement!!! WTF???? And more than $205,000 would be tax free! …It is reported that Adams was hired even with the Bell Kingpin…er, City Manager “Ratzo”…
This guy also had collected money for disability from Simi Valley, Ventura in the area of $45,000…what?????? This guy was a money machine with a badge! Oh this story gets even better, “MR” Adams also had two contracts with Rizzo, aka City of Bell: one was for Police Chief and another as “special police counsel” to Rizzo…
… “What’s disappointing is that Randy aka “Mr” Adams didn’t recognize this situation and that it was going to cast him and us in a bad light…He lost his values along the way”?
NOTE: It was also brought to our attention that not too many officers cared for him at Bell, and I understand that he was even less than loved in Glendale. Boy, what a career! We will be following up with the revenue tactics the City of Bell police department participated in to generate money for the city coffers, I have to stop as I am laughing so hard and I do have a bad back and I pay for it myself…
