It appears it was a very happy holiday season for the Thompson Family. On January 20, 2012 all felony charges were dismissed by the court at the request of the federal assistant D. A. against Gaither B. Thompson II and referred it to a lower court on misdemeanor charges. Ford Shelley remains out on bail while awaiting sentencing on one felony count.
After that you have the typical back and forth of Motions for and Oppositions to Motions, the Court granted some of Thompson’s Motions and Deny some of the Motions. The Court also granted an Extension for trial until April 2012.
Then silence until you read the following Docket Notes as to a hearing on January 17, 2012 in regards ONLY to Thompson:
“NOTICE OF HEARING as to Gaither B Thompson, II Change of Plea Hearing set for 1/17/2012 02:30 PM in Florence #3, McMillan Federal Bldg., 401 W. Evans St., Florence before Magistrate Judge Thomas E Rogers III.
Minute Entry for proceedings held before Magistrate Judge Thomas E Rogers, III: Change of Plea Hearing as to Gaither B Thompson, II held on 1/17/2012 John Potterfield, Assistant D. A. for USA, present for USA. Defendant present with retained counsel, Reynolds Williams. Plea Agreement Accepted. Gaither B Thompson II (3) Guilty Count 1. Pre Sentence Report will be prepared by USPO. Defendant allowed to remain out on same bond pending sentencing.”
You “think” we have one guilty plea to one felony count as Ford Shelley had done and we will wait for sentencing but then after something happened between Thompson and the USA you have the following notes.

I did not see it but have found some video clips of L. Lin Wood and Piers Morgan going head to head in what appears to be at times a heated exchange.
Did any of you actually catch the whole show? I saw replays on CNN of them talking about how heated Piers Morgan called attorney L Lin Wood naive and surely Morgan did not think what he was saying? With part of it clipped out and then Wood’s southern gentleman voice coming back with “I’m sorry you find me naive” and then slapping Morgan down. Wood was on Morgan’s show to defend his client GOP Presidential candidate Herman Cain.
My question is did Morgan do this for ratings as taking on Wood with no holds bar and no fear of a lawsuit, or was it a Brit that had no idea what is going on in our legal system?
I wish I had seen the whole hour, I don’t know if Lin Wood was the guest for the full hour or not, do any of you? If so give us your play by play of who won this “debate”.
I also wonder if Wood has found a new set of clientele, remember Jeff Greene suing some media in Florida for endorsing his opponent and then trashing Greene? It is certain I believe, as some in the news is saying that if we had 24/7 infotainment/news back in the 30′s, 40′s, 50′s and 60′s we would not have had great presidents like Franklin D Roosevelt or John F. Kennedy. So what is the balance on the public or voters right to know, and what is private and/or personal lives? I understand why Newt Gingrich was outed in the late 90′s; because while he was leading the charge for President William Clinton’s impeachment over consensual sex that Clinton did not feel he needed to bare all to the voters, especially when President Clinton was on the way out to retirement. While we were learning that Gingrich had abandoned a wife who was dying with cancer for a mistress he had for years. So it was good-bye to Gingrich the Speaker of the House at the same time.

Wood also addressed the 24/7 infotainment/news craving for all things personal and private and what that appears to be doing to candidates in this day and time.
I think I see Lin Wood carving out that a politician does not have to openly share what is a very private life UNLESS it all checks out before you air it. Should the infotainment/news be allowed to fill the airwaves for 24/7 with rag magazines type gossip?
I am leaning towards Wood going for it. How is that Democratic US Senate Candidate Jeff Greene lawsuit going? The backlash on this is would it give the U. S. Supreme Court Justices a pass on conflict of interest? Or will it affect how the Court might rule on something like this coming before them?

The Sun News.com of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina led with the headline of “Developer linked to Playboy Model to Plead Guilty to Mail Fraud” by David Wren
The article goes on to say:
“Ford Shelley Jr. – the local developer whose acquaintance with the late Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith helped fuel a media circus following her death – has agreed to plead guilty to a felony charge of mail fraud related to allegedly falsified mortgages he helped to arrange for his Pineapple Bay condominium project in Myrtle Beach.
“Even though he has agreed to plead guilty, Shelley said he is the innocent victim of a mortgage broker who misled him about the legality of a loan program that Shelley used to sell the condos. Neither Shelley nor his lawyer identified the mortgage broker.”
Nice to know poor Ford is still hollering he is the victim. Wonder what the patriarch, G. Ben Thompson, thinks of Ford Shelley taking down some of the Thompson family with him, like Gaither B Thompson, II who is to be arraigned on November 9, 2011 at 10:30 AM in Florence, South Carolina for mail fraud with two of Shelley’s other business partners; after what we can gather was Shelley testifying against them to the grand jury, per Shelley’s plea deal.
All things considered Shelley’s attorneys, Gene Connell of Surfside Beach and Brown Johnson of Florence, cut Shelley a pretty sweet deal. Shelley:
“Did devise and intend to devise a scheme and artifice to defraud a lender by means of false and fraudulent pretenses, representations, and promises.”
Shelley sold condo units at his Pineapple Bay Project, operated by his company, “Fruits of My Labor LLC” by inducing buyers to purchase the units and then Shelley would give them a large kick back in money after the sale of said property and leave that little tidbit out to HUD.
However the plea agreement is only for one count of mail fraud because of course Shelley’s hands were all over the completed loan packages minus that kick back money when mailed to GMAC Mortgage Corporation. Damn it is always the IRS or the U. S. Postal Office that gets you, Ford didn’t watching the Capone movies teach you anything?
Shelley sold the condos for $695k to $700k, all but one went into foreclosure. The condos are now selling for $135k to $155k.
Shelley entered into the plea deal on October 11, 2011. The day after Shelley plea deal was filed with the court on October 24, 2011, the federal grand jury indictment of Shelley’s brother-in-law Gaither Thompson II and two business partners for mail fraud of the same property was unsealed on October 25, 2011.
Shelley under his plea agreement was to testify to the grand jury truthfully about other parties involved. No date for his sentencing has been set, if he helps get the other guys, like in-laws, he might get some points by the court. Shelley is facing a maximum of up to 20 years in prison, a fine up to $250K, supervised release up to 3 years and a special assessment of $100.00.
So wonder if Ford and wife Gina Thompson Shelley will be invited to the holiday festivities this year?
In what appears to be generosity the Estate of Anna Nicole Smith through the Executor Howard K. Stern filed with the federal court in South Carolina a Request for more time to enter the final agreement between the Estate and the Thompson/Shelley families until a hearing in the Probate Court in California to be held on January 24, 2012.
My final question after watching all of these clowns since February 2007, is CAN Ford Shelley be honest? What are your thoughts is facing federal prison time suddenly turned Ford into an honest man?

In a telephone hearing today in the South Carolina Federal Court Magistrate Judge Thomas E Rogers, III made the following rulings after TELEPHONE CONFERENCE with the parties and counsel.
1. Howard K. Stern on behalf of the Estate for Anna Nicole Smith had agreed to the Attorney of Record to Withdraw and the Memorandum for reasons to withdraw be sealed The Court Agreed and Ordered that the reason be sealed and Susan M. Brown’s current attorney can and as of today has withdrawn from the case.
2. Stern offered to give The Brown Law Offices and Susan M. Brown thirty days to seek new counsel. Magistrate Judge Thomas E Rogers, III ruled Brown had only ten (10) days to find new counsel or would represent herself Pro Se.
3. Smith’s Estate had offered a “reasonable period of time for the Brown defendants to have discovery”. Magistrate Judge Thomas E Rogers, III ruled that; “Court will stay scheduling deadlines for a period of 10 days
4. The Estate says the only Motion currently pending before the court is the amount of attorneys fees that Brown and her firm owes for the Contempt proceedings, no ruling on that was made today. L. Lin Wood, Luke Lantta and Nicole Jennings Wade, lead attorneys are optimistic that a mediated settlement is possible but has not happened to date, therefore if necessary the Estate is ready for final Pretrial Motions to be filed and then a jury trial.

On the Anna Nicole Smith Estate vs. G. Ben Thompson, Ford Shelley etc. I am did not see any papers filed by some deadline for December 28. I tried to figure out if it was a Response by Susan M. Brown’s being added to the suit as well as Gina Shelley, Gaither B. Thompson II and his wife Melodie Thompson. It could be a Reply by the Estate due on a Response filed by one of the defendants in regards to the Motions for Contempt, Sanctions and Joiner of additional parties. Which ever it was it was not filed on time unless there is a delay on showing up on PACER.
December 29, 2009, G. Ben Thompson filed an Objection to his attorney Mr. Joyce’s Withdrawal as attorney of Record of Thompson in the federal case of the Estate of Anna Nicole Smith vs. G. Ben Thompson, Ford Shelley et al. I wonder if this is the reason that the Responses or Replies due on December 28 have not been filed?
On the Virgie Arthur vs. Howard K. Stern, TMZ, et. al. in the 80th District Court of Houston, signed an Order yesterday on December 28 giving the Plaintiff Leave (permission) to file the late documents in response to CBS Motion for Summary Judgment, and also giving CBS Request to supplemental their evidence for the Summary Judgment we should have a copy of this later today for your downloading pleasure. This Order appears to be no win or win for both Arthur and CBS, the new judge is allowing both of them to supplement their filings in reference to CBS Motion for Summary Judgment.
Tomorrow we will list the five cases we feel was the worse or the most bizarre, we would like to hear which ones you found that way. You can use the archive months found on the right hand side of the main pages for you to do a quick review to pick the five you want to list.

Michelle Braun the latest Hollywood Madam whose business was bigger then Heidi Fleiss, with more ex-Playmates and even some porn stars served the very rich and famous from the U. S. to overseas. Braun will be sentenced today in a federal California Court. The U. S. is recommended five (5) years probation with no more than six (6) months of house arrest.
The federal government has stated that Michelle Braun has given over her electronic black books and is helping the federal government in its ongoing investigation of whose who in Hollywood and how far reaching literally – globally, her “organization” was.
Braun has pled guilty to one felony charge of transporting a woman across state lines for the purpose of prostitution and one felony account of money laundering.
Many wondered why Braun immediately agreed to a plea bargain and to hand over her list of “Johns”. Now we know in the Civil Forfeiture part of this case.
Braun was quick to make this deal because this was truly in every sense of the word a family affair. Braun’s husband, Farrell Kellener, was listed as the president of the multiple business names for Nikki’s Girls with advertising online and a chunk of change to rent one of these girls. Braun got caught by giving service online to an undercover agent. But then she does love to be referred to as “Queen”. Braun’s sister, Mandy Gray of Bakersfield California, worked as her secretary and bookkeeper, her parents had a piece of the action, Braun kept money stashed out of the country, per filings Amsterdam seemed to be her favorite place to stash the extra case. She had a plan to flee the U. S. to a rich uncle in Mexico and then on to a country where extradition was not a guarantee. However, the most surprising family member involved was her brother, listed as a Newport Beach California attorney, however his name is alleged to be Jeff L. Braun. Braun’s brother, the attorney, told everyone he was not Michelle’s brother, and he appears to be protected hin filings as just her brother a Newport Beach Attorney, but once the U. S. government asked for the Civil Suit to be unsealed and the Stay lifted, there was her brother, listed as a “Newport Beach California attorney” who had his sister power of attorney to access her funds if needed for bail money or other expenses. Is aiding a sister in money laundering and prostitution an ethics violation in California? Hell is not reporting a crime an ethics violation in California? However, Braun being the good daughter and sister has taken the full force of the U. S. Government conviction upon herself. Next question why is Michelle Braun getting such a little bit of slap on the hands both sentence wise and property the federal government wants? Remember how much time both the previous Hollywood Madam, Heidi Fleiss and the D. C. Madam received?
You might note also that Michelle Braun’s attorney is Ellyn Garofalo of the Dr. Sandeep Kapoor of Anna Nicole Smith fame. All of this is things that make most of us go Mmmmmmmm. Remember the D. C. Madam was going to jail no if, buts or ands about it, so what is different in this family affair of prostitution, lots of money and high living in Braun’s case.

In South Carolina where the Estate of Anna Nicole Smith is suing Ford Shelley and G. Ben Thompson in anticipation that the court will allow the adding of Gina Thompson Shelley, Gaither Thompson II, Melody Thompson and Susan M Brown, Ben Thompson has now turned in an affidavit supporting Brown’s release from that suit.
The pending Motion for Leave to add the four additional parties is still due for filing Answers no latter than November 16, 2009 at which time the Court will set read any Responses and then issues any appropriate Orders.
The Court canceled the “In Camera” hearing for the release of both of G. Ben Thompson’s attorneys that was scheduled on November 3. No reason was given by the Court of who requested or why the hearing was canceled.
The latest filings in that case is the filing again of the same conflict of interest and request to be released as counsel of Susan M. Brown and an Affidavit by G. Ben Thompson acknowledging that Brown would probably be added to the suit and stating due to that reason Thompson had no objections.
November 5, 2009 Susan Brown second filing to be released as counsel for G. Ben Thompson after hearing on November 3, 2009 was canceled by the court.
November 5, 2009 G. Ben Thompson Affidavit in Support of the Court releasing Susan Brown as his attorney since it seems imminent that Brown is going to be added as a co-defendant.
We are expecting filings by Elizabeth McNamara on behalf of Rita Cosby and L. Lin Wood on behalf of Howard K. Stern to be filed in New York by tomorrow, November 9.
We also expect a filing in the Texas State Court tomorrow or early this week in Response by Virgie Arthur to CBS’ request for Summary Judgment we will be adding that as soon as we receive that filing.
New filings in California in the Bankruptcy of Bonnie Stern and the Adversarial Proceding of Virgie Arthur vs. Bonnie Stern. that we will be adding today and a new section for the latest case to spring up over all of this in Texas and listing those papers as we receive them.
September 17, 2009 The Bankruptcy Court in California discharged Bonnie Stern’s bankruptcy except of the adversarial case filed by Virgie Arthur.
September 22, 2009 In the Adversarial Proceeding of Virgie Arthur vs. Bonnie Stern this is a joint status report asking for the next status hearing to by January 12, 2010. The Appeals Court in Texas has issued a Stay on the January 27, 2009 Order appointing the Special Master Craig Ball which his report on Stern was the reason a default judgment was issued against Stern. If that is overturned by either the three cases pending in the First Court of Appeals or in the case before the Supreme Court of Texas, then there is the question if that in itself will make the striking of Stern’s pleadings to be thrown out. Then there is the big question with the October 30, 2009 filing of John M. O’Quinn’s Will which states that the three trustees in place to dissolved his firm The O’Quinn Law Firm, how will that impact the current case in both Texas as well as California. Normally the conditions of the Will are resolved within nine months of the filing of the Will in all matters so the Estate can file a final inventory and pay Estate Income Tax.
November 5, 2009 The released transcript of the Hearing from April 2009 in which Neil McCabe was present to address the Court about both the adversarial Motion to be filed by Virgie Arthur and also a note about him attending the first arraignment hearing on Howard K. Stern and both doctors earlier the same day.
November 9, 2009 Virgie Arthur’s Exhibit B Article by Art Harris dated April 22, 2007 with all comments included filed with Response to CBS Motion for Summary Judgment before the evidential part of a lawsuit.
