After meeting with one of my clients this morning, I thought that I would take a stroll around the “Stanley.” I love strolling the “Stan,” it is a place of wonderment. There were Neal Hersh, Joe Mannis (as always looking like a million bucks, there is a reason for that look I assure you). Adam Lipsic, working on the look and when you talk to Adam you realize fast that he dam near knows everyone in town. Steven Knowles, was looking upbeat and ready for his next big divorce, Steven and his partner Michael Collum have mastered the “Persian Two Step.” What I was really looking for was some coffee…that would come and soon.
Sitting on one of the benches outside Judge Trent Lewis’ courtroom, who do I see but Lisa Helfend Meyer looking like she has just discovered that her new Chanel suit is a phoney (Lisa was without question the best dressed lawyer at the Stan this morning). Upon further investigation, she was there trying to fix a major problem that someone in her office had lost control of. Lisa was accompanied by Erica A. Swensen, lawyer — one of her firms more brilliant associates, and one that should have a window (unlike one in particular). The major problem was a case that had generated some good fees was sinking and fast, all thanks to Elyse Margolin, lawyer. As Ms. Meyer was sitting and listening, her trunk of gold doubloons were turning to wet buffalo chips. Meanwhile Elyse asked if I wanted some coffee…the answer was “of course” and off we went Starbucks! Thanks Elyse! Elyse and I both laughed as we both thought we had seen the ghost of W.C.Fields…ahhh just an impostor…it was Marvin M. Mitchelson, looking for a retainer.
Representing the other side, as I have indicated, was Elyse Margolin, always a fighter and not one to be kept quiet. Elyse was well rested and ready for battle, I could tell she had that bounce to her step. Along with Elyse was an attorney whose specialty was bankruptcy, aka making doubloons disappear and ladies and gents, when you want it all to stop in a nasty divorce, file for the BK. Elyse appeared thrilled that her clients hemorrhage of cash was going to stop and stop fast, as in first thing in the morning. Folks, don’t feel bad for either of these little titans of divorce, they are both very wealthy and will be wealthy for many years to come. And besides, sometimes it is nice to have a big box of buffalo chips, when used correctly it will make the grass look nice!
What big time divorce lawyer is being schlepped around Century City by that car service with the old Town Cars? Sometimes they smoke like they are running on smelly cow pies. Standby for one of our segments coming up, divorce lawyers with the coolest cars, there are two who are close for first place, amazing rides.

Ask anyone over 55 years old as to how fast time moves and they will tell you it seems to accelerate with every birthday. They come ( birthdays ) faster and faster, this is not a scientific position that I am taking here but just the way I feel. I was away from the “Mosk” for almost three weeks during the Anna Nicole Smith preliminary hearing…
We make the trip to “the Mosk” and no sooner do I look at my calendar than who do I see walk into? Bob Cohen, Lawyer and his client… …He just left Judge Endman’s court and was sent to the “mediator,” who was not in! How does that happen?
…Upon entering the room who do I see but Elyse Margolin and one of her clients. Elyse is looking fabulous and her client too is well dressed and wins points with me immediately when she asks, “don’t you write for DesperateExes?” Well is this not nice to meet someone who reads what you write?! I mean she is highly educated and very well-coiffed, and she reads us!
…Well “twinkle toes” walks over and snatches the chair that Mr. Cohen was using. I told him that the chair was taken, and he goes into a story that he had the chair earlier and was thus “entitled” to the chair now when he returns back to the room…after observing him, perhaps he needed it more than any of us. I was told that his name is Larry Bakman, who has a little legal practice in criminal defense, and that he tells those who will listen that he handles “all” the criminal defense issues out of Phillips, Lerner, Lauzon & Jamra LLP…Peter, Stacey or Grace give me a call, I have some suggestions for you!
UPDATE: 11/11/09 2:30 P.M. A CONFIDENTIAL SOURCE AT Phillips, Lerner, Lauzon & Jamra TOLD US AT DESPERATEEXES.COM THAT BAKMAN “SELDOM DOES WORK” FOR THEM. AND “WOULD NOT BE A FIRST CHOICE.” LMAO….no surprises here folks!
There were some people running around looking for the courtroom for the Justin Timberlake issue with some female stalker. Marty Singer (lawyer extraordinaire) was in the building I assume, as he represents Mr. Timberlake. I had to leave as I was going over to the new L.A.P.D. Headquarters for a tour of Threat Management Unit, my friends for many years, an incredible group of men and women with the sole purpose to help those in the public arena against those who would do harm to them. My offer to Martha DeFoe is still open: DeFoe and Nazarian………I can’t compete with “plan A.” All my best to Martha and her family and the offer stands!
We have not heard from John J. Nazarian for awhile be sure to read the complete article it will have you doubled over in much needed giggles and laughter. By the way Mr. Nazarian if Larry Bakman of the fame of Batman – Larry Backman office in Los Angeles?

“We will use ‘real’ words, I love the word ‘DIVORCE’, family law sounds like a pleasant experience. Folks none of this is going to be pleasant, maybe two or three times I have had clients who realized what time it was and did the right thing. What you ask is the right thing? You have ten dollars and you take five dollars and the other side gets five dollars. Otherwise the ten dollars goes like this, your lawyer will take $4.00 and the other lawyer will take $4.00 and some lucky private investigator will get $1.50. I have made this as simple as I can and yes I have seen this done with millions of dollars and yes everyone was thrilled, that is the lawyers and me!
The subject of these articles will be based on real people going through a real day in court. No one has ever accused me of mincing words and if it is a pig I am calling it just that, a pig.”
…. So I hope that my perspective will help women and men who have decided to take the plunge and DIVORCE each other. Nazarian and Associates thanks RoseSpeaks.com for their interest in these observations from a courtroom in America, sure every state is different but there is very common denominators when comes to ‘screwing each other’ in the game known as DIVORCE.
Here is our lead in to the first of the articles of John J. Nazarian’s series of DIVORCE! If you have a question ask Mr. Nazarian if he can I am sure he will either answer it or address it in an upcoming article.
This article by John J. Nazarian is called the “Persian two step”, funny but serious also and one any of us no matter rich or poor can relate to …. It is DIVORCE
________________________________________________
After seeing Laurel and Hardy on Monday I got away from the craziness that comes with famous dead people and headed for higher ground. Well let me tell you, I stopped by the Honorable Amy Pellman, Judge, department 65. Action for me is judges being just that — judges — and liars, excuse me, I mean people who sit before the judge and tell their sad stories, true or not? Who can ever tell, after awhile it is like being a parent or an old copper who has heard so much crap on a daily basis that even before the offender opens their pie hole you know they are liars.
…I have to tell you that for anyone to have to sit and listen to divorce people wanting to get through the process for 5 minutes can make you want to grind your teeth. These judges who handle family law, aka DIVORCE, are not paid enough nor am I for the constant attack on our common sense. ….She had a Big Fat Liar in her sights and she was not going to be playing anymore games with him or his lawyer. Talk about interesting, here was the “doctor” who was just “broke” and had already paid over $500,000 in legal fees, investigative fees, accounting fees and only God knows what else…But not one cent for child support. This guy had performed the now famous “Persian two step.” For those of you who do not know what this is well let me explain, there are other versions of the two step, but this one is one of the best. …
…Judge Pellman busts one over this guy’s head by telling him that “not to pay child support for five years” was unconscionable and she has had enough. She asks Da Doc’s lawyer, “how many days in a week?”… It is simple folks, you want to totally screw over the X-wifee all you do is get rid of all your assets….
