What are some of those just brilliant old expressions? … “ you don’t know what you got till you lose it.”

Well, I was walking down Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills the other day after having lunch at the Montage and heard this big splash. What? I could not believe my eyes, it was Grace Jamra of JAMRA & JAMRA. Grace has dropped anchor in Beverly Hills at JAMRA & JAMRA, 9465 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 460, Beverly Hills, California……you can call her at 310-278-9001.

Formerly of Phillips, Lerner, Lauzon & “she is gone” Jamra, LLP. This is huge, as it is in many of these “premiere” divorce firms, you have one in the firm who is a great self promoter but presents a case as if… …

…I coined the term “Amazing Grace” after sitting and listening to her in court a few years ago…

…. what took this 20 year veteran so long? So long to move out of a situation of working for ol’ what’s her name? I would have given a pair of my cashmere socks to see the look on Sticey Flips when the news hit her with her morning coffee. Ouch! And it would appear that others too are checking the depth of the water and chipping barnacles in hopes of setting sail
.
Jamra & Jamra will be a power house of expertise and experience, I will promise any of my readers, no disappointments here folks. Amazing Grace has even taken a cut in her hourly rate, from $675 per hour to $500, her idea. When I asked why, her answer in typical Grace Jamra fashion, “I want to give the clients more bang for the buck!” How often do you see divorce lawyers lowering their hourly fees? …

Between my travels to New York and Mexico, I decided to visit my old stomping grounds, The Stanley Mosk Courthouse. Who do I see upon my arrival on the 8th floor but two of the major partners of Meyer, Olson, Lowy and Meyers, Lisa Helfend Meyer and Felicia Meyers…

Stopped in a few of the courtrooms and it was the usual Liars Club, former mates for life that are now in the process of turning each others lives inside out. …For the lawyers it is nothing short of hitting the lottery when they get clients with BIG FAT WALLETS…and in the end folks…

…I got to see two lawyers trying to give Judge Scott Gordon an incredible snow job, these two were throwing snow faster than a NorEaster. However, it was about to get real warm, real fast for these two legal beagles. Trying to plow around Gordon’s court is not a good idea folks…he was a street cop way before a judge and some of those memories are still with “his Honor.”

While sitting in front of Judge Diaz’s courtroom, who strolls by but Manley Freid of Fried and Goldsman, another SUPER LAWYER…LMAO, who makes SUPER DOLLARS. Mr. Freid made an interesting comment to Lisa Meyer while seated in the front of Judge Diaz’s court, he asked, “did you bring crayons and cartoons?”…was this…

…Oh I almost forgot, and who else do I see, my good friend, Sticey Flips (not so much) of the very prestigious law firm of Phillips, Lerner, Lauzon & Jamra. Sticey Flips was wearing what I am sure was a very expensive animal print, like an old cougar type print. There is not a question in my mind that Ms. Flips wears extraordinarily high dollar clothes, she is another very rich divorce lawyer. I was told recently that my name is like, NOT to be mentioned around that firm…I don’t know why she is mad at ME, I don’t buy her clothes…BUT, she always has great shoes.

Michael Trope has hit the grand slam home run of Family Law. He hit the ball right out of the park with the bases loaded for his client, Lisa Kerkorian. We at DesperateExes.com are betting that this is one of the biggest if not THE biggest child support wins in the history of divorce… …but Lisa K is no fool, she reached out and picked a winner, Michael Trope, of Trope and DeCarolis.

Michael Trope not only negotiated this incredible win, but folks wait till you hear this number, $10,250,000.00 in retroactive child support for Lisa Da K going back to 2002! …Folks there is always a backside to these stories and this one is no different. It was back in ….2008 when Michael Trope presented his “Motion to set aside” all the nasty stuff that victimized Lisa Kerkorian. As some of you will remember when she had Kolodny and Anteau as her lawyers pretty much all of what she said on the phone was being shared with Kirk Kerkorian’s lawyer Christensen …Anthony Pellicano know who else through wiretaps… …and Terry Christensen lost his ability to practice law…disbarred….

…1. Lisa did not get a fair trial in 2002 because her lawyers were compromised with wire taps…..

2. Michael Trope was asking that everything be set aside as it was an “unfair” trial. And this was the only reasonable thing the court could do…a great position to take.

3. All previous evidence would have to be purged, tossed, thrown out, dumped…why? It was all obtained through illegal conduct…

4. …Kirk Kerkorian crew would not be allowed to present any new evidence and all of the other stuff would be tossed…

…. Now, for the big turn, a change of direction, we got a fresh attitude. I wrote on May 12, 2010 that the Judge orders lotsa bacon for Lisa Da K lawyers.” That day, it is my opinion that Joe Mannis, not being anyone’s fool saw what the exposure could be for his client and began to chart a new course. The actions and comments that day by Judge Steinberg made it clear that it was not going to be business as usual when it came to Lisa Kerkorian and her lawyer, Michael Trope. The other side representing Kirk Kerkorian had committed serious crimes and…

…The deal has been floating around it looks like since July 8, 2010, my birthday! The agreement was finalized and signed… …October 22, 2010. Representing Mr. Kirk Kerkorian is none other than one of the biggest hitters in family law, Joe Mannis. When it comes to seasoned lawyers talk to Joe Mannis. Keep in mind, Mannis represented one of the richest men in the world on this divorce/support issue. Talk about Titans of DIVORCE, here you have two of the best in the game, Michael Trope and Joe Mannis!

In closing, this was some of the best big gun lawyering in Family Law court this year, Michael Trope for Lisa Kerkorian and Joe Mannis for Kirk Kerkorian. …Michael Trope, need I remind everyone that before becoming a lawyer, he was one of the biggest sports agents in the country…”The Art of Negotiating” is alive and well at Trope and DeCarolis.

UPDATE ADDITION: The settlement, which provides $100,000 a month until Kira turns 19 or until she graduates from high school, no longer is a full-time student or no longer is living with her mother full-time. After that, the settlement says, the child support will be reduced to $50,000 a month.

The agreement also provides for Kerkorian to pay expenses including school costs, equestrian expense, clothing, housing, travel, hobbies, automobiles, food, beauty treatments, tutoring, entertainment, parties and pets.

The AP reports that Lisa was married to Kerkorian for only 28 days and admitted that their daughter, Kara was not his biological daughter, but Kerkorian has loved her and been involved in her life as her “dad” since day one.

Wonder how much the Court awarded Michael Trope in attorney fees? Perhaps John J. Nazarian will get that scoop and share it with us as well.

Breaking News: If you are a private person or a security person or private investigator or for that matter a criminal, have no fear about placing a tracking device on a private vehicle! This is great news for all the sleuths who thought it was illegal, well, kinda sorta, in the “old” Los Angeles. But today, track away!!!

Brief details: a few weeks ago a very nice couple while lowering the tailgate on their Range Rover noticed that the bottom half would not work, it got stuck. Upon looking further a little black box was found, about half the size of a cigarette pack….what??? Upon looking a little further it was discovered to be a GPS Tracking Device from Lightning secured in this little black box. It was about to get a little more strange, this couple had nothing to do with any craziness other than one issue. That issue was a friend, who was going through a very nasty divorce. This friend had to surrender her leased car in a few weeks and to keep the mileage down. So this nice couple told her that she could use their Range Rover for a few weeks. Yes sireeeee, their car and registered to just the two of them. Well it was during the period that the “friend” had their car that this STALKING device had been secretly and without permission stuck under their Range Rover, who might do such a thing? Some “crazy,” a stalker, the government or a soon to be former husband who is having problems with the inevitable, as in “see ya sweetie”??

The desire to know is ever present in our society and that is exactly why laws were enacted to protect people from unauthorized snooping. Thank God that we the public are protected against this stuff being done to us, we are “protected”…NOT! Read on.

Well the Los Angeles Police were called and it was explained to the operator what we had found. The dispatcher on the other end told us to take the tracking device to the North Hollywood Police Department and make the report, serious stuff, right? NOT! We go down to the police station and are greeted by Officer McClaren, a nicer young officer you will not find in the City of Angels. He upon hearing the story tells us that he does not believe it to be a crime. I wait a few moments and tell him that it is a crime. Several minutes later he tells me, “you are right,” well, I smile my friendliest smile and tell him “I know.” The good officer takes down all the important information. This is when it gets good, he now takes it back to the detective on duty. I am now praying that the detective understands how serious this is. After a few minutes, a very nice detective by the name of Torres comes out and tells us that “this is a crime” and that they will take the device into evidence and at some point a search warrant will be issued. “Good,” we say and walk away waiting for justice. As everyone knows you cannot just put tracking devices on cars, especially if you are not the registered owner, and plus what would the world be coming to if this could be done by anyone with no penalties, RIGHT? Wrong!

Well, this case fell into the hands of Detective Burns of the North Hollywood Detective Division of the Los Angeles Police Department. Things will move along now, right? WRONG! And you could perhaps tell that the suspense that had us on the edge of the seat wanting to find who did this was not shared with Detective Burns. It was reported to us that he told one of the parties that he had “better things to do” and far more serious crimes to investigate than this one. And that he would do his “report” and bring it to the City Attorney’s Office of Carmen A. Trutanich for their review and potential prosecution, and get back to us. ( Note: As a cop you can write a report to set someone free or send them to the gas chamber….can you guess what is going to happen here folks? ) Well we were notified Thursday, May 13, 2010 that the City Attorney won’t file on the case and that we can feel free to come and pick up the “evidence.” And the good detective is moving on to better things! Yes Sireeeee, welcome to the modern LAPD.

One huge reason the police don’t know what to do with this TECHNO STALKING is that the devices are seldom found. And there are thousands in service throughout the world without the knowledge of the driver. I have only been contacted three times by people who have found GPS tracking on their cars themselves…sometimes, not often, the people who place tracking systems on cars screw up, such as in this case. But we have removed hundreds of them from cars over the years when asked to check and locate GPS systems, often put on by one suspicious spouse to track the other…it is fun? Right? Sure, you can tell where the vehicle and driver is going and where he or she has been. Now I always thought that this was a HUGE issue and we had to be careful not to violate the law….NOT IN LOS ANGELES folks, it is just not serious enough of a crime to take serious.

This car was not registered to either party involved in the divorce, and the people who pulled off this crime got away with it. With the attitude of the LAPD and the City Attorney not wanting to get involved, what message is being sent? My thoughts are of all the STALKERS, WIFE BEATERS, AND FOR PEOPLE WHO WOULD DO HARM IN GENERAL! This day could be considered a holiday for all of those who like tracking and stalking victims and targets. The doors that these people are opening for people to track others is off the chart. What better way to keep track of someone you might want to murder or molest?

And to all of you security people, private investigators and criminals, don’t even worry your little mind, go ahead, nothing will happen. Just be sure to stay within the city limits of Los Angeles and you won’t have a thing to be concerned with. And even better if you do this in the area of the North Hollywood Division of the Los Angeles Police Department…”what is the big deal?”

…well folks, the “King of Softballs” and the “Sultan of Gas” is going to be up for grabs…Larry King has filed for divorce from his gorgeous much younger wife. He is stumbling into DIVORCE #8…Shawn Southwick has filed for divorce. Shawn is being represented by none other than Joe Mannis. It is reported that Larrreeeee is a very generous old person…better be, when Ol’ Joe sends a bill he wants to be paid.

There has been much ado about Shawn’s sister, Shannon Engemann, purportedly banging old Larreeee… …Shannon states that Lareeee is “like a father to me”…Hmmm, maybe she too is not in touch with her faculties, more like GrandF’nfather sweetie!

She was quoted on TMZ that “I have a date tonight and I am not going to worry about it.” I was wondering if it might be Tony Curtis. Larry’s lawyer Susan Carter is hoping that the divorce is “amicable,“ that is likely to happen about the time his show ever becomes a hit again. However in the end…he is still a real rich old guy.

Once again it’s “Super Lawyers” time…folks, this is so embarrassing! Embarrassing from the point that this is PAID PUBLICITY, paid for by the “Super Lawyers” themselves. Sure I have heard all about the “point system” and “input from peers,” I am just having problems telling Bullshit from Roses.

…Input from peers, and 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement-things like experience, verdicts, and settlements, transactions, clients, honors and awards — this was taken from “Super Lawyers” on how the “Supers” are selected…I am not buying it.

…And it gets even better, there is Top 10 Law Schools, The Top 100, The Top 50, The Rising Stars. Well how about this, The Biggest Wallet, The Newest Rolls Royce, The Biggest Gut, The Smallest Feet, our favorites The Best Dressed, The Worst Dressed, The Worst Breath, The Biggest Ego, The Coolest Offices, and as you see this could go on and on.

…I know some of these lawyers, and to call them “Super” would be a little like watching a train wreck and applauding. There are some very good lawyers on the list… …Oh that is one of the other fun things you can do if you buy one of these silly advertising gimmicks and that is having it framed and hanging in your office…problem, they are also hanging in all of the other “Super Lawyers” offices…..why? They too paid for it!

Hmm, I just had a thought, they should reach out to all of those unhappy clients who may have hired a “Super Lawyer” from this list and got hammered. We could then have the “Asswipe Awards,”… …could be a money maker too, and at least it would be honest and heart-felt.

Note: “Super Lawyers” does print this: “You may wonder whether lawyers pay to be included. The simple and unequivocal answer is no. …who writes this stuff? guys in long coats, tall hats and carpet bags?
