Death Panel Governor Jan Brewer

Once again I am going to say I am a moderate independent more often splitting my vote and researching the candidates.

I heard on the news the other day that the GOP has resurrected the “Death Panel” slogan, so any of us getting older or sick need to be very scared, very very scared that the government is going to decide who can live and who will die and most of us will be put in the “will die” column. The GOP intends to save us by defunding health care over the next few years. Well except that part insurance companies want, the mandatory pay or “purchase” will be a boom for the insurance companies. The GOP uses smoke and mirrors but make no mistake when it comes to their final decision it will be for the insurance companies and that bottom line buck.

Why can’t the Democrats get a catchy slogan like that for the one liners needed and stay on topic and ram this down the GOP throats??? The GOP is so much better at these catchy slogans then the democrats are. They are easy to understand even if not true and they are scarier than hell.

I have some suggestions. Every time a Democrat speaks about health care and what it is and isn’t, bring up the fact that only one state that has a “REAL DEATH PANEL”, and that is Republican John McCain’s state ran by GOP governor Jan Brewer..ARIZONA She has decided to create a death panel and to declare “transplants” as elective surgery and has pulled the plug literally on patients waiting for transplants that need help paying for them or the co-pay the private insurance companies will not pay. We are talking the elderly, young parents and the worse young children.

The Republican governor, Jan Brewer did an elimination of transplants to save $800,000 and by doing so makes Arizona the only state to do so in the past two years, according to a report from the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, a nonprofit health-care researcher in Menlo Park, California.

What the governor calls Cadillac care, optional service, we’re talking a life-or-death decision,” Anna Tovar, state representative from Tolleson Arizona said noting that her insurance paid for a life saving bone marrow transplant two years ago, which poor Arizonians won’t get.

Arizona’s health-care costs were increased by a 2000 ballot measure designed to use money from a tobacco-lawsuit settlement to expand coverage for the poor, according to John Kavanagh, a Republican who chairs the appropriations committee in the state House of Representatives. Ah where did that money go?

Of the 185 million dollars given to governor Jan Brewer as stimulus funds went for real necessary things like; $2 million went to study the use of algae as fuel, more of the millions went for a new roof on the coliseum, which is the home of the revenue-generating state fair, several million went to fill pot holes on streets. About $30 million seems to be in cyber space still waiting for an explanation.

Britain’s Channel 4 reports on a recent encounter with Gov. Brewer regarding the matter:

Reporter: “How many people have to die before you are prepared to reverse your decision on the transplant operations?” seemed like an obvious question.

Governor Brewer: “That was unfair”

A state paid aid, paid with tax payers money, promptly came to her rescue and said “Next question please”.

The governor says to call Washington D. C. to get her more stimulus money which is ironic since she blasted the original funds, and then took them and spent them. Brewer is also against the new health care passed by Congress in 2009.

Then you have the newest elected congressman very anti what has been termed “Obama Care”, GOP Congressman Andy Harris from Maryland a doctor working at John Hopkins wants to know how quick does insurance which pays for him and his family being a new representative kick in for his government provided insurance. When told it was 28 days he threw a fit saying, well anyone that gets a new job gets insurance with that job on day one… Ah yea that government health care that they get courtesy of the American Tax Payers. .By the way Congressman how is that COBRA option working out for you?

I suggest you call your U. S. Congress person or U. S. Senator with a couple of questions: 1. Do you have a Living Will? 2. Do you have a medical directive? Do you have a medical proxy? Does your doctor know you are an organ donor? How about the wives and kids do they have all of that? Then the BIG question, did you discuss this with your doctors so they know what you want?

I had to have a lawyer do my three; a Living Will, Medical Directive and Medical Proxy. When I see a new doctor they scan it and put it in my file. Wouldn’t it be nice if Medicare allowed them to spend 15 or 30 minutes with me to discuss what I want and why I want it and to make sure I understand what the things I have listed will or will not do?

So Congress Person and/or Senator, does your doctor know what you want so you stay in control of your medical care? If they do did we the taxpayer by proving you that government run insurance pay for you to have that discussion? If the answer is yes, then why should I be denied that same dialogue with my doctor just because Medicare will not pay for that extra time?

Do the K. I. S. S. (Keep it Simple Stupid so I can understand and relate easily to the discussions on this) democrats: 1. Point to the GOP ran state of Arizona about real death panels, and point out if for members of congress and their families have these discussions with their doctors and is it on our buck?

As a voter be educated, use Google, like I often say, Google is your friend.

Next week I will give my thoughts on who the members of Congress and Senate really listens to and it is not us the voters.
