Straight Talk with Celebrity P. I. John J. Nazarian will have as a guest tonight, Glenn S. Lipson, PhD, who is a California-based forensic psychologist, with vast experience in performing criminal evaluations and testifying for both prosecutors and the defense.
Dr. Lipson has assisted law enforcement nationally, as well as London’s New Scotland Yard, and serves as a professor at Alliant International University. He’s the founder of the online training program, www.MakingRightChoices.com, which is sweeping the nation with its collaborative, community-based approach for ending educator/student sexual abuse.
Dr. Lipson chose his profession after his grandfather was murdered by a co-worker with an ax. We will see if he is willing to discuss that case and how it has impacted his life and career choice.
Dr. Lipson has provided trial commentary for InSession/Court TV, and on various cases for HBO, Discovery and local television; is a frequent guest on talk radio; and has been quoted in numerous magazines and books.
Lipson’s knowledge of all the top cases in the news lets him offer practical solutions for turbulent times.
Dr. Lipson is Program Director as well as Associate Professor of the Forensic Psychology Program at Alliant International University, San Diego Campus. A Diplomate in forensic psychology he has evaluated victims, perpetrators and has been retained in suits involving clergy, youth organization and internet exploitation. He has appeared in Expert capacity on local media outlets, Court TV/Sessions and the Verdict with Paula Todd.
As a Diplomate in Forensic Psychology Dr. Gipson has testified in homicide, sexual assault and other high profile cases.
Since Dr. Cyril Wecht has completed the second autopsy of Rebecca Zahua and found he did not believe it was suicide, but the local small town police department was too embarrass to reopen the case, and the fact that Dr. Lipson has worked with the San Diego D. A. in previous cases; John will be asking Dr. Lipson since he will be a valuable second opinion using Lipson profiler skills of women and what he feels about this case. More important will it ever be reopened and look at again?
Instead of discussing Casey Anthony, John J. Nazarian will be discussing the jury in the Anthony case and did they come up with the right verdict, considering the rush to prosecute Anthony, with the evidence presented at trial.
The Aruba case and Gary Giordano who was just released by the Aruba Court and is back home in Maryland, U. S.; that will lead of course to the infamous Van Der Sloot 2nd murder and his multiple civil suits since being arrested and expedited back to Peru. Who got raw deals and who are truly potential killers?
We can not have a profiler on with out asking Dr. Lipson about the rampant bullying in our schools that is leading in many cases to tragic killings and suicides, especially among the LGBTQ teens. What he thinks schools should do or what training should be provided and how to stop this epidemic cycle of bullying that leads to deaths of our youth.

With Dr. Wecht is his co-athur Dawna Kaufmann. Their new book FROM CRIME SCENE TO COURTROOM (245) covers seven high profile deaths from Casey Anthony to Drew Petersen and Michael Jackson. You can buy this book directly from their publisher Prometheus with the quote of;
“The authors provide never-disclosed data on the three autopsies of Jackson’s body, and they deconstruct when and why the singer became addicted including his truly bizarre medico-legal background”.
You can also purchase the book at Amazon as well as most book stores online or in store. A teaser from the book states;
“MICHAEL JACKSON — The King of Pop’s sudden death in June 2009 shocked the world, but didn’t surprise Wecht or Kaufmann. They are among the nation’s top assessors of drug-related celebrity deaths, yet this case has twists, even to their experienced eyes. Dr. Conrad Murray, the cash-strapped cardiologist hired by the music superstar to help ready him for a concert tour, was charged with manslaughter for causing the singer’s death. Jackson died at home from an overdose of propofol, a paralyzing narcotic he had requested for sleep — and there were other pharmaceutical drugs in his system. Los Angeles prosecutors maintain that Murray’s treatment was substandard, including furnishing a drug typically only used in a surgical center and failing to monitor his patient while engaging in phone flirtations with his girlfriends. The doctor’s defense target the decades of drug addiction Jackson hid from Murray, which contributed to his weakened condition, and argue that Jackson administered the fatal drug to himself while Murray was out of the room. This chapter includes never-disclosed data on Jackson’s post-mortems, Michael’s bizarre medicolegal history, and “psychological autopsies” of both Jackson and Murray.
Dr. Cyril Wecht has personally worked or consulted on each of the seven cases, and Kaufmann has independently written about the most prominent investigations. Together they provide exclusive, up-to-the-minute info that combines the scientific evidence, legal strategies, behavioral backgrounds of the victims and perpetrators, and media coverage behind these gripping puzzlers. They offer plain English interpretations of complicated medicolegal matters, with scrupulous research
and detailed sourcing.
Cyril H. Wecht received his M.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and his J.D. degree from the University of Maryland. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic, clinical, and forensic pathology, and is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and the National Association of Medical Examiners. Dr. Wecht was formerly the Chairman of the Department of Pathology and President of the Medical Staff at St. Francis Central Hospital in Pittsburgh, and is actively involved as a forensic pathologist, medical-legal and forensic science consultant, author and lecturer. He served as the elected Coroner of Allegheny County for a total of 19 years, and the building in which he worked is now named for him.
Dr. Wecht is a Clinical Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Graduate School of Public Health; an Adjunct Professor at Duquesne University Schools of Law, Pharmacy, and Health Sciences; Distinguished Professor at Carlow University; and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law at Duquesne University School of Law. He has served as President of the American College of Legal Medicine and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and also as Chairman of both the Board of Trustees of the American Board of Legal Medicine and the American College of Legal Medicine Foundation. Dr. Wecht is a Charter Diplomate and has served as Vice Chairman of the American Board of Disaster Medicine.
He is the author or co-author of 550 professional publications; an editorial board member of 16 national and international medical-legal and forensic scientific publications; and editor or co-editor of 44 books, including a five-volume set, Forensic Sciences (Matthew Bender Publishing), and two three-volume sets, Handling Soft Tissue Injury Cases and Preparing and Winning Medical Negligence Cases (both published by Michie).
Dr. Wecht has organized and conducted Postgraduate Medical-Legal Seminars in more than 50 countries throughout the world in his capacity as Director of the Pittsburgh Institute of Legal Medicine. He has personally performed approximately 17,000 autopsies, and has supervised, reviewed or been consulted on approximately 37,000 additional post-mortem examinations, including cases in several foreign countries. Dr. Wecht has testified in more than 1,000 civil, criminal, and workers’ compensation cases in state and federal courts in more than 30 states and several foreign countries.
Dr. Wecht has appeared as a frequent guest on numerous national TV and radio shows, discussing various medicolegal and forensic scientific subjects, including medical malpractice; alcohol and drug abuse; assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Reverend Martin Luther King; death of Elvis Presley; Sam Sheppard case; O.J. Simpson murder trials; JonBenét Ramsey case; Amador Diallo case; Chandra Levy death investigation; and Laci and Conner Peterson homicides. These cases, as well as those involving Mary Jo Kopechne, Sunny von Bulow, Jean Harris, Dr. Jeffrey Macdonald, the Waco Branch Davidian fire, Vincent Foster, O.J. Simpson, Scott Peterson, Anna Nicole and Daniel Smith, and many others are discussed from the perspective of Dr. Wecht’s own professional involvement in his books, Cause of Death, Grave Secrets, Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey?, Mortal Evidence, Tales from the Morgue, and most recently, A Question of Murder, co-authored with Dawna Kaufmann.
Dr. Wecht and his wife, Sigrid, have four children and eleven grandchildren, all of whom reside in Allegheny County. He has received numerous awards and honors from various professional, community and governmental organizations, including County Detectives’ Association of Pennsylvania, Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of Pennsylvania, Vectors, New York Society of Forensic Sciences, American College of Legal Medicine, National Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the American Legion. He has been invited as a Distinguished Professor to lecture in several foreign countries, and is an Honorary Life Member of the National Academies of Legal Medicine of France, Spain, Belgium, Yugoslavia, Mexico, Colombia and Brazil. Dr. Wecht has lectured at numerous medical, law and other graduate schools, as well as many colleges and universities, and numerous professional organizations and governmental agencies, including Harvard Law School, Yale Medical School, the FBI Academy, and the Medical Division of the CIA.
Dawna Kaufmann is an accomplished true crime journalist whose work has been heralded by law enforcement and the media. She’s covered many hundreds of high-profile homicide and missing person cases for national publications, usually from the first hint of a crime through the trial and sentencing phase, and her understanding of forensics and law is striking. Among the in-depth cases she’s covered are Caylee Anthony, JonBenét Ramsey, O.J. Simpson, Natalee Holloway, Laci and Conner Peterson, Phil Spector, and Danielle van Dam. Based in Los Angeles, Dawna’s a leading expert on autopsies of the rich and famous, covering the sudden deaths of celebrities including Michael Jackson, Anna Nicole Smith, Brittany Murphy, Phil and Bryn Hartman, and John Ritter. She likely has the world’s premier private collection of celebrity autopsy reports, reading them as if they were novels. And as a victims’ advocate, she helps grief-stricken families navigate the media when they are thrown into an unexpected whirlwind of public attention.
Dawna’s great success as co-author with Dr. Cyril Wecht of Prometheus Books’ A Question of Murder came to the fore when members of national and local law enforcement read the chapters on the drug deaths of Anna Nicole and her son, Daniel Smith, before filing criminal charges against Anna’s two doctors and lawyer for maliciously overprescribing medication to the star. Their trial in Los Angeles resulted in reduced charges and acquittals, due to a competing California law, but the problem of overmedicated celebrities flourishes.
Kaufmann is also an award-winning producer and writer, with a multitude of credits in television, including staff writing jobs on Saturday Night Live and Mad TV, and for late-night comics. She has worked on numerous prime-time network variety shows, and continues to craft topical material for well-known performing artists. The two styles of writing—comedy and crime—are perfectly compatible to Kaufmann whose business card reads: “Crime Fighting, Joke Writing.” It’s all based on intense research and her unrelenting mandate to tell the truth.
In 1994, Dawna had finished writing one comedy series and was about to go onto another when she turned on the television and saw double murder suspect O.J. Simpson’s slow-speed Bronco chase through the streets of southern California. Like many Americans, she became transfixed, and days later, realizing how many fascinating angles there were to the case, decided to add crime reporting to her résumé. She contributed to dozens of articles for the National Enquirer, which was leading the media coverage of the case.
In the years since, Dawna has broken countless stories and written for other magazines in the American Media empire, including Globe and Star, because their aggressive coverage always manages to get the story first and best. What Delta Force is to the U.S. Army, the tabloids are to mainstream journalism, she says. Her writing has also appeared in Cosmopolitan magazine, the Los Angeles Times and other publications, and recently she contributed a chapter about the DNA evidence in the JonBenét Ramsey investigation to the new 10th edition of Criminalistics: An Introduction to Forensic Science, the country’s foremost textbook on the subject for high schools and universities. Dawna also takes special pride that months of research led to her getting a 2002 admission from W. Mark Felt Sr. that he was indeed the infamous Watergate character known as “Deep Throat,” which was perhaps the greatest scoop of the last century and earned her encomiums from Vanity Fair magazine, among others.
Dawna Kaufmann has appeared as a live guest or phone interviewee on numerous cable TV news shows — and even when she’s not a guest, her print stories have been shown on camera and discussed by panel members. She has also hosted her own talk radio programs and appeared on other radio shows, both national and local, with her quick quips and solid information.

Joy Behar had Dr. Phil on last night, September, 12, 2011, to discuss his interview which part one was today. Joy Behar show comes on at 10 PM EDT on HLN!
Just as we thought the Casey Anthony coverage had died down, here is the latest from this horrific missing persons case. The Joy Behar Show had Dr. Phil discusses his interview with George and Cindy Anthony. Dr. Phil’s interview with the Anthonys will be the first one they’ve done since Casey’s murder trial! I watched part 1 today and talk about softball questions and Dr. Phil thinks Casey Anthony is Satan incarnate made me glad I still have a remote to change channels. Nothing was new except the amount George gamble away over $30,000 in just a few months, was kicked out by Cindy for abut 6 or 7 months after Caylee was born, right before Christmas 2007, and Casey begged her mom not to take George back. Dr. Phil which appears willing to slap his decree on anything never mentioned the jury felt George was lying, like about the girlfriend in 2008. Perhaps he will get past the being nice and saying Cindy hides from the truth and George knew who killed Caylee, we shall see.
Last night Joy sat down with Dr. Phil to discuss his highly-anticipated, remember numbers sell ads, 3-part interview with George and Cindy Anthony! In the interview, Dr. Phil shared a sneak peek of the interview, and gave his take on the discussion he had with Casey Anthony’s parents. In the Anthony interview, Dr. Phil tried to get to the bottom of whether or not the Anthonys knew what really happened to poor Caylee. He specifically addressed Cindy Anthony’s suggestion that Casey may have a brain tumor, which, in Cindy’s eyes, explains how Casey went from having a “normal” childhood to admitting to burying Caylee’s body in the woods. Did anyone on the witness stand ever say and prove it was Casey? I remember thinking I cam away with more questions then answers.
Dr. Phil analyzed Cindy Anthony’s “brain tumor” explanation to which there is no medical proof, saying:
“I think she is desperate to reconcile within herself how her daughter could do these things or this thing. Because she’s saying, ‘My daughter couldn’t do that. She was a loving mother, she was an attentive mother. This is so out of left field for her, something had to make her do that.’”
What do you think – are George and Cindy Anthony crazy? Will you tune in to Dr. Phil’s 3-part interview?

Last night John J. Nazarian sent out the following email as well as on Twitter and Face Book:
“Hear me live tomorrow at 6pm Pacific Time on my new show Straight Talk with John J Nazarian at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/john-j-nazarian. This will be every Sunday night for one hour and will go to five nights a week shortly after. Some of you will be surprised and most of you will ask what took so long, it will be me unedited and telling it like it is. There will be guests and a few celeb’s of course; it will be my thoughts and opinions of many subjects.”
I am very excited that John is jumping into radio and will bet he will be syndicated in a few months at most. I look forward to his guests and the celebs that will appear, just think who all John knows and who all wants to debate with John.
I have been invited to debate with John Nazarian about the Casey Anthony trial, I believe our judicial system works, Nazarian feels it failed bad in that case. That announcement on his new site of Straight Talk with John J. Nazarian states:
“Sept. 4, 2011 6 PM PDT CASEY ANTHONY LATEST GUEST: ROSE TURNER- John offers insight about the case and debates with Rose of RoseSpeaks.com about the case.. the trial .. and the outcome. Where is Anthony now. Is her life really in danger? How do you feel about the potential she will profit from the case. Could she ever face lesser charges? or is she free and clear. Viewer feedback lines will be open.”
Nazarian’s guest today, his premiere show, is Vee Foster and among other things they will be talking about both Anna Nicole Smith, the 4+ years of cases and Michael Jackson and the upcoming trial of Dr. Conrad Murray. The site says:
“August 21, 2011 Straight Talk with John J. Nazarian Celebrity PI Premiers at 6 PM PDT. GUEST: Ve Foster investigative journalist. Get to know the real John, his thoughts, cases, call in and ask him a question or just say Hi.”
I will be on today’s show briefly, of course promoting the way we cover trials which we believe is different than most sites.
Be sure to tune in today at 6 PM PDT, 7 PM MDT, 8 PM CDT and 9 PM EDT and for the weeks to come. My bet is that Nazarian with the controversy that comes with him, will be an instant hit. Ken and I both are in the category of: “most of you will ask what took so long”.
Be sure and tune in today, it should be fun, entertaining and enlightening.

Next week, July 1996, marks the 15th anniversary of the bomb explosion at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta Georgia, and lawyers for Richard Jewell, who died in 2007, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution final fight might very well be over. A Georgia Court of Appeals ruled last week, and affirmed the dismissal of the libel case against the newspaper could signal that the final fight has ended.
L. Lin Wood Jr., who has represented Richard Jewell in multiple libel suits and upon his death represented his estate, has said he, “Will appeal last week’s adverse decision by the state Court of Appeals.” That would mean that either the Georgia Supreme Court, or even the U.S. Supreme Court, could decide to weigh in. If it gets to the U. S. Supreme Court I predict, with the using of the Court’s interpretation of the First Amendment of Free Speech in regards to campaign contributions by corporations, we could pretty much predict which way they would rule. Thus unless the Georgia Supreme Court takes the case the saga of a hero turned villain by the media has come to a close. Last week’s Court of Appeals ruling, which affirmed the dismissal of the case against the newspaper will be the end of the cases on behalf of Jewell. Lin Wood was dubbed by Dan Rather as the voice of the damned because of this case and other cases Wood became known, such the John & Patsy Ramsey libel cases, in regards to the tragic murder of their young daughter, JonBenét Ramsey.
Wood says his efforts have not been for nothing. “I do believe the Richard Jewell case made a difference. I do believe that responsible members of the media are more cautious now.” He adds, though: “I don’t think it’s deterred Nancy Grace much.”.
I would point out the recent lynching of Casey Anthony for three years before her trial by media such as Grace and others would go a long way of saying some of the infotainment passed as news have not learned much except for Grace’s screeching words of her own first amendment rights to feed the ratings game still ring hollow in many of our ears.

Last night, July 13 2011, Dr. Drew was joined by Harry Krop, a forensic psychologist who actually evaluated Casey Anthony and spent 20 hours with her. In a somewhat shocking interview, Krop came to Casey’s defense by saying that she has no diagnosable mental illnesses, and that he believes the public has only seen one side of her.
Krop said of his evaluation of Casey Anthony:
“I understand how that’s difficult both for you as well as the public to believe that she doesn’t have an Axis II disorder. I’ve seen on your show as well as some of the other shows on your network, individuals coming on and making references to her as either a psychopath or a sociopath. One of the reasons that Casey authorized me to go public with the results of my evaluation was because she wanted it known, both the good and the bad of Casey, but, um, I think that Casey feels that, and for obvious reasons, that the public that has really only seen part of who Casey Anthony really is.”
Krop also said that she doesn’t even have “borderline” sociopathic traits, to which Dr. Drew exclaimed, “that’s impossible!”
“She’s an intelligent woman, but basically an extremely immature woman.”
What do you think? Do you believe Casey’s psychologist is right that she has no sociopathic traits? Dr. Drew appears on HLN Monday through Friday at at 9pm ET/PT and 8pm CT/MT
Casey Anthony will be released Sunday, July 17, 2011. Do you think her life will be in danger because of the Infotainment lynch mob mentality that those like Nancy Grace keeps fanned?
Last night, Casey’s ex fiance Jesse Grund talked to Dr. Drew to discuss the real Casey Anthony and his relationship with the Anthony family. In an attempt to gain insight into Casey’s lying behavior, Dr. Drew digs deeper with Jesse and his father look back and describe how Casey and Jesse met, how she interacted with the Grund family, and the way she has appeared to have changed.
Richard Grund, Jesse’s father said:
“I can see why everybody falls in love with Casey, but the more you’re around her, the more you begin to see a pattern of exaggeration, of things not lining up, and you kind of just slough it off, she’s immature, she’s young. Obviously there’s some kind of a self-worth issue because she needs to fit in badly. But I’ve listened to three years of the lynch mob mentality, ‘she’s a monster, she’s a monster’ — she’s not. She’s a person and there’s something wrong, and somebody didn’t love her enough to do something about it.”
Jesse Grund explained his shocked reaction to Casey’s ‘not guilty’ verdict:
“I can’t even wrap my head around what happened here and I’ve known Casey for years. Well, the old Casey, not necessarily the one that’s been sitting in court and smiling and laughing while her murder trial’s been going on. But the old Casey that I knew, I wouldn’t have been shocked by this verdict. However, this person as she stands today, I know little about the way she ticks.”
What do you think? Could Casey’s past behavior of exaggeration and insecurity give us a clue as to why she behaves the way she does? Dr. Drew appears on HLN Monday through Friday at at 9pm ET/PT and 8pm CT/MT
Now we know her release date will be Sunday, July 17, 2011. Do you think her life will be in danger because of the Infotainment lynch mob mentality that those like Nancy Grace keeps fanned? More “friends” seem to be coming forward to say George and Casey hate each other and that has been since she was young and he was forced to move to Florida by Cindy Anthony.
