A U. K. man, who claimed he was looking for UFO files lost his appeal not to be extradited from the U. K. to the U. S. to face trial and if convicted could face up to 70 years in prison.

The man admits he gained access to 97 computers from the bedroom of his girlfriend’s aunt’s house. He claims of he should not be prosecuted or extradited to stand trial is the fact he was able to access the computers “motivated only by curiosity and because of lax security”. That ole “excuse” of it is not my fault I was able to get in, it is their fault for not protecting the computers and servers better appears to be falling on deaf ears.

The US government says he stole passwords and deleted files. They have won the right to try him in the U. S. and he is expected to be extradited from his home country to face trial here in the U. S.

I wonder what would accessing an email server because the security did not prevent you from doing that from the luxury of your home, and stealing emails and in some cases passwords/identities from up to almost 50 accounts on an email server will play out? We shall see. My personal prediction is that it might not be what they did to Rose Speaks.com that. One of the worse things, in my opinion, was posted publicly in the last few days. It involved the unauthorized breach into an email account not connected to Rose Speaks.com, but sent from a politician’s government email address, which simply elected to “opt-out” of an email newsletter. This was from a site that happened to be on the same email server that houses Rose Speaks.com but was in no way connected to Rose Speaks.com. I think that might not be forgiven so easy. What are your thoughts, is it the person who “took the information because the security to too “lax”, or the people they are saying were “responsible for the lax security” fault?

The U. K. man admits he acted alone. In the breach of the 50 accounts on one email several people have admitted in participating, “just because they could and the security was too lax to prevent it”, is that a conspiracy?

We will be using the same password for a blog that addresses this article as we did for the Rose Speaks.com email breach article.

  1. now thats interesting….wonder what the hacker was doing in a politicians account as well as your rose? Now that means that the FBI will investigate

  2. One thing for sure, ignorance of the law or just plain stupidity is not a defense. The other issue that plays into this is the reasons for hacking into someone’s personal information is being looked into at the state level by special teams due to increase of such crimes and its affect on the economy. And if important enough often gets the attention of the Federal Government.

  10. I’m getting a 404 error when I sign in…but, when I backspace I am logged in. ??

Such a poor excuse from the hacker “security was lax”. He should be locked away for a looong time. As far as conspiracy (I hate that word) is concerned…I don’t know. But, personal responsibility is certainly an issue. IMO

  11. My goodness where have we seen this “it is not my fault” before. Where have we seen “I was only curious” before. Well it seems it does not matter whether you were “just curious” or feel “it wasn’t your fault” due to said easy access to private info; it is still a crime when one enters under false pretense and takes private info that did not belong to them.

  12. raven the same thing happened yesterday to me and when I refreshed it let me in.I backed out and went in again and had no problem. But the same thing happened when I went into my bank site there I did the same thing cause i had read that was how people got you to got to false sites.I have a firewall and anti virus plus spyware bot so I should be ok plus The windows firewall and yahoo has some protection also.So I am hoping I am good. Please God let the feds get involved whoever is bragging about getting into the server may be crying soon

  13. I found out you can’t be logged into 2 blogs at the same time….oopppss

  14. hmm I agree with hoping the Fed’s find and prosecute to the fullest those who hacked into the site. Funny how some feel a crime has not been committed. I guess we shall see.
