Great article in POLITICO today. I am glad to know that what I have been telling friends and family privately was again right on as to how the political world is changes due to instant news, 24/7 infotainment passed as news, and blogs. I explain at the end of this article as to why I feel all of this is important.
The Huffington Post dispatched a reporter to Texas this summer to investigate rumors about Rick Perry’s personal life, hoping for an irresistible story about hypocrisy.
Enter L. Lin Wood Jr.
Retained by Perry’s gubernatorial campaign committee, the acclaimed libel lawyer fired off a letter to the website in August, threatening to sue if the story ran – an aggressive response even for a candidate whose aides later admitted they entered “Def Con 9” mode when long-circulating rumors began to swirl anew as Perry prepared to run for president.
The Huffington Post’s founder Arianna Huffington said recently the website didn’t spike the story because of Wood’s letter, but because there was “simply no there there.”
Still, Wood’s behind-the-scenes work for Perry – and his more public efforts last month to shoot down allegations of sexual impropriety leveled at former Perry rival Herman Cain — suggest there’s an appetite among high-profile campaigns for a more aggressive response to damaging stories. And though some Washington scandal veterans argue Wood’s confrontational approach— which blends litigation-style PR with legal threats and actual lawsuits — is better suited for Hollywood and supermarket tabloid stories, others predict the demand for those services will only expand as scandals increasingly dominate political coverage that spreads rapidly online.
“I’m not out looking for business,” Wood told POLITICO. “But I think that any candidate for public office would be well advised to have the benefit of an experienced opinion on whether a particular article or a particular accusation might rise to the level of being actionable defamation, because I’m afraid that the environment is such that this type of reporting is not going to get better. I’m afraid that it’s only going to get worse.”
Wood is also representing failed Senate candidate Jeff Greene, who lost a Democratic primary in Florida last year, and is suing newspapers over stories that linked him to a real estate scheme. In a letter sent in the heat of the campaign to the St. Petersburg Times, Wood called their story “journalistic fiction” and suggested he would file a lawsuit for “many millions of dollars unless the Times immediately corrects its libel” by retracting the story.
Wood’s past clients show his work had been mostly outside politics until recently. I predict with Wood going out on his own now in a boutique law office we might see him more on the political stage and it would be smart to hire him before the other guy does is my motto.
Wood’s past clients include Democratic Rep. Gary Condit, in the reporting of the death of intern Chandra Levy. Wood became the star Libel Litigator in the country when he made his reputation by helping exonerate Richard Jewell. Wood went on to represent clients in a host of high-profile cases, including the parents of JonBenét Ramsey, the young woman who accused basketball star Kobe Bryant of sexual assault and of course multiple lawsuits in the Anna Nicole Smith saga.
Ray Sullivan, a Perry spokesman, told POLITICO that the governor’s team decided to hire Wood in August when “we got wind that” Huffington Post — which he described dismissively as “a liberal web-based media outlet” — “seemed intent on quickly writing lies about the governor, and we were concerned about the speed at which those lies could be published online.” Sullivan characterization of the situation matches one outlined in more detail in an ebook by Mike Allen and Evan Thomas, which explained that Perry’s aides were “distressed to learn that Jason Cherkis, a Huffington Post reporter, was in Austin prowling around on a story that had been gossiped about for years in the Texas capital: is Perry gay?”
The rumors included “a detailed story about a supposed assignation with a former [male] state official,” wrote Allen and Thomas.
Wood “authored one strongly worded letter to the media outlet, which never replied and never wrote the story,” Sullivan told POLITICO. Wood “did this one thing and that’s it. We never told him to stop and he’s not billing us now as far as I know. The purpose for which he has been retained is completed,” Sullivan said.
Arianna Huffington, president of The Huffington Post Media Group, told POLITICO that the decision not to run a story had nothing to do with the letter. “We looked at what we had; we realized that it was not a publishable story, and it was over,” she said. “The story was already killed before we got the letter from Lin Wood. I never even read the letter.” She added: “If we feel good about a story or stories, we run them, no matter what the legal threat. That’s not an issue. We have a great legal department and have no problem taking on legal challenges.”
Lin Wood’s work for Cain went differently. He began work more than a week after POLITICO first revealed that two women had received financial payouts after accusing Cain of sexual harassment. Additional accusations of harassment followed, as did an allegation from an Atlanta woman named Ginger White that she’d had a 13-year affair with Cain. L Lin Wood labeled all the allegations “lies,” urged women considering making additional allegations to “think twice” and wrote a letter to White’s lawyer asking for her phone records to “ascertain whether the decision to grant interviews was politically motivated and to determine whether she has received or [been] promised money for participating.” Wood also investigated the backgrounds of White and at least one supporter of another Cain accuser, and highlighted their financial problems, which he asserted the media had willfully ignored.
“What I find naive is the failure on the part of members of the media to be asking the tough questions of the accuser, someone who has obviously a troubled past, who has an incentive potentially financially to go out and to make these kinds of unfounded accusations,” Wood told Piers Morgan in an interview on CNN a few days after White went public about her alleged affair with Cain. “Why don’t you look at yourself, Piers, and the members of your media and recognize that you in fact and the media are participating in the deterioration of our political process?” In that interview if I remember correctly Wood never brought out the scandal consuming the U. K at the moment of illegal wire tapping which involves even Morgan’s previous employer.
Wood told POLITICO he has had “informal conversations or communications” with the lawyers for Sharon Bialek, who accused Cain of harassment, and White, “but there have been no formal demands made under applicable statutes at this point in time.”
Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon said he “really enjoyed working with Mr. Wood,” who he said talked with “several individuals in leadership positions” on the campaign. But Gordon stressed that the lawyer worked for Cain personally and not the campaign, which would have been required to disclose payments to him.
Don’t be surprised if more defamation specialists like Wood get involved in politics, Richard Painter predicted, adding “accusations – and how to deal with them both in offense and defense – is an important part of the political game. This will be more common. It is most unfortunate, but that’s the way it is.”
Political lawyers serve their clients well by trying to block damaging stories from running and by seeking to stop the spread of those that do, said Trevor Potter, who was the top lawyer for [John] McCain’s presidential campaigns in 2000 and 2008. “In my experience, it is not unusual to hire lawyers and to have them intervene with news media to essentially litigate a story in the hopes that it can be knocked down and proven unsubstantiated before it is printed,” said Potter. “And obviously, from the campaign standpoint, you don’t want to have an accuser out there doing a press tour day after day. On the other hand, if you can’t prove it’s false, that’s a political problem, not a legal problem.”
Wood told POLITICO that it’s not about politics for him, explaining “my representation of political figures in my career is not based on a political ideology.”
Though he worked on Richard Nixon’s 1972 presidential campaign (recalling he was “extremely disappointed … to learn that in fact he was a crook”) and contributed to the presidential campaigns of Republicans John McCain and George W. Bush and Democrats John Edwards and Barack Obama, Wood said “I don’t claim to be a political person.”
The principles driving his work do not “vary based on whether it’s a presidential campaign or a senate campaign or a state campaign or even a non-political attack on someone’s reputation,” said Wood, who in his late teens spent about a year covering high school football and basketball for his hometown newspaper, The Macon News. “I just happen to take the view that the rules should be the same for public figures, political candidates, and even private individuals, and that is a rule that goes back and insists upon fundamental principles of journalism being adhered to by the media.”
Ah you have to wonder if Bush would have been a one term president if John Kerry had been smart enough to hire Lin Wood BEFORE the swift boat ads took hold?
This is offense PR at it’s best, and as explained in Lin Wood’s own words he is not about political ideology. In today’s instant stories online in some cases without a scintilla of evidence I have long said we would not have had great presidents in the past like Franklin D. Roosevelt or John F. Kennedy. Wood sees where there is a need and will continue to fill that need in my opinion for years to come in the political arena. You can’t blame Wood’s belief in Nixon, I often say I voted for the guy both times and he broke my heart. Nixon is probably the single one reason I am a moderate independent that normally splits my vote today.
Be sure and read the whole story at POLITICO and the well documented links in the article that will give you a lot of background on Perry, Cain and Wood. Wonder how the democrat Jeff Greene’s litigation is going?

I did not see it but have found some video clips of L. Lin Wood and Piers Morgan going head to head in what appears to be at times a heated exchange.
Did any of you actually catch the whole show? I saw replays on CNN of them talking about how heated Piers Morgan called attorney L Lin Wood naive and surely Morgan did not think what he was saying? With part of it clipped out and then Wood’s southern gentleman voice coming back with “I’m sorry you find me naive” and then slapping Morgan down. Wood was on Morgan’s show to defend his client GOP Presidential candidate Herman Cain.
My question is did Morgan do this for ratings as taking on Wood with no holds bar and no fear of a lawsuit, or was it a Brit that had no idea what is going on in our legal system?
I wish I had seen the whole hour, I don’t know if Lin Wood was the guest for the full hour or not, do any of you? If so give us your play by play of who won this “debate”.
I also wonder if Wood has found a new set of clientele, remember Jeff Greene suing some media in Florida for endorsing his opponent and then trashing Greene? It is certain I believe, as some in the news is saying that if we had 24/7 infotainment/news back in the 30′s, 40′s, 50′s and 60′s we would not have had great presidents like Franklin D Roosevelt or John F. Kennedy. So what is the balance on the public or voters right to know, and what is private and/or personal lives? I understand why Newt Gingrich was outed in the late 90′s; because while he was leading the charge for President William Clinton’s impeachment over consensual sex that Clinton did not feel he needed to bare all to the voters, especially when President Clinton was on the way out to retirement. While we were learning that Gingrich had abandoned a wife who was dying with cancer for a mistress he had for years. So it was good-bye to Gingrich the Speaker of the House at the same time.
I can’t find this on the CNN site but you can view it at You Tube here:
The thought of throwing rocks if you live in a class house comes to mind on that.
Wood also addressed the 24/7 infotainment/news craving for all things personal and private and what that appears to be doing to candidates in this day and time.
I think I see Lin Wood carving out that a politician does not have to openly share what is a very private life UNLESS it all checks out before you air it. Should the infotainment/news be allowed to fill the airwaves for 24/7 with rag magazines type gossip?
I am leaning towards Wood going for it. How is that Democratic US Senate Candidate Jeff Greene lawsuit going? The backlash on this is would it give the U. S. Supreme Court Justices a pass on conflict of interest? Or will it affect how the Court might rule on something like this coming before them?
Here is one more video I found, might be a copy because I did not have the chance to watch it before this post.
So tell us your thoughts, remember that anyone who can afford it can bring a lawsuit, but are these “news tidbits” out of line because they could be based on gossip and not facts? I did find the full interview transcript on the CNN site.

Preface: This is my true account of my stalking problems and this is not to defame, or maliciously attack anyone. (Opinion piece)
It seems that “stalking” only happens to women from overzealous male admirers, but this isn’t always the case. I have had many stalking problems through the years since I have popped up on the “fame” radar. My being a man makes it seem less threatening or scary, and sometimes laughable to individuals. For what I am about to discuss/tell you is my opinion. I hope that everyone can learn from this.
Just because I am a man it seems that not everyone, except the FBI or my lawyer or a handful of people, seems to take this seriously. For women, the law is broad and they have many avenues to help them. But for men or a public figure, both in my case, it comes with the territory that men shouldn’t be afraid, etc.
When I was working with Faye Resnick during the O.J. Simpson trial, I first encountered “stalking” that was happening to her. One day when I was leaving her house through the front door and Faye gave me a hug and kiss goodbye, I was suddenly pulled back in the front door by her grabbing me by my collar and pulling me in backwards. She quickly closed the front door and warned me that there was a guy across the street in a white car, and an older man with gray hair and he had a gun pointed directly at her front door! I thought I was seeing things but this was actually happening! We looked through the side glass on the front door and quickly went upstairs and she made The Call! Whew! Talk about scary!
During the Jones v Clinton scandal I had my very first serious “Stalking” problem, not what people think of when “stalking”: not the usual angry ex’s or boyfriends or girlfriends. I was being “stalked” by a bald headed woman wearing a hooded sweatshirt over her head, who actually came onto my living premises property and I actually had the police take her away in handcuffs, not knowing that she had been following me in a hooded sweatshirt for weeks prior. I never knew this woman or have ever talked to her, etc. That was scary, and there were a few more stalkers after her, and some were men, too.
Celebrity brings out the strangest “actions” or “manipulations” by the most unassuming individuals. Funny thing is I can be seen as a threat to some people, threat being I can steal their thunder, but if someone appears unassuming, i.e. plays off being naive, overly nice or plays the victim, they get away with so much because they aren’t seen as a threat. Meanwhile they are the real threat because they are the ones who can do real harm. It’s like a beauty pageant and they are playing fake nice to be awarded Miss Congeniality, meanwhile they aren’t even really a contestant in the first place and they show up backstage trying to befriend the winner, then try to rip the crown off her head. One of my celebrity clients actually warned me because of their stalking problems to “beware of anyone syrupy sweet”, they are the ones working you for something.
Now I am having stalking problems again, this time with two women, but this comes in a whole other form. This time it has taken a turn that they “love” you or in their heads have a “love affair” going on and wanting to coattail ride their way to celebrity. Just having a conversation enforces this to them.
And Facebook (FB), ugh, is “stalker” haven and they feel they have “power” on the internet and thru FB! The reason I say that about Facebook is that these two stalkers are always on FB and watching every move and post on my wall, and everyone else’s. I had to remove these two stalkers because of the “FB spying” and/or “postings” and them “having to know” your fb friends, etc.
My current stalker, let’s call her stalker number two, even confronted me on a write-up I received in a gay magazine from the Midwest saying how she was against gays and let me have it and cried hysterically. Keep in mind once in an email she even told me, “I just don’t understand the gay thing.” It also seemed to be jealousy on her part because of the press attention. Also, I have had to change my phone number more than a few times due to the hysterically crying calls. Friends and business associates have heard her hysterical meltdowns on voice mail messages and were horrified and scared for me. I even had a Studio Exec hear some of these messages and say, “She isn’t well in the head, get away from her.” The stalkers also show up at places unexpectedly. One of them showed up at midnight on a Tuesday night at an anniversary event to “surprise” me, an event that she wasn’t even invited to! Both of these women have “red carpet” issues, let me explain; Stalker number one will do ANYTHING to get her photo on the red carpet. After one of my events stalker number two picked a fight with me asking why she didn’t have her photo taken on the red carpet, acting like she was entitled to have her picture taken. She even inappropriately referred to one of the celebrities as a “Mexican whore” and asked why she was on the red carpet and not her. She then told me the person in charge of the red carpet told her she should be having her photo taken. That prompted me to do a three way conference call with the gentleman in charge of the carpet and the stalker. On the phone he told us both that he never said any such thing to her. He commented that she had obviously been drinking and was intoxicated, and even had a drink in her hand which she was not suppose to have outside the press area. Funny she denied that she wasn’t drinking, once again, or had a drink in her hand because she did have a cocktail glass in her hand in some pics from people that attended and sent to me. He told us she had approached him asking why she wasn’t on the red carpet having her photo taken. Stalker two said to me previously that she doesn’t have any interest in showbiz or red carpets, etc. Mhmm.
Anyway, it isn’t my decision if the paparazzi takes their photos, it’s up to the paparazzi and they are only interested in Celebrities. Anyway, stalker number two was “drinking” again and when she drinks she gets volatile and will deny, deny even if people back up her bad drinking etiquette. I also often experienced a host of crazy phone calls and emails from stalker number two after she had been drinking.
Being told from one of my current stalkers, she actually said to me in a scene out of Sybil with Sally Field, “Don’t you remember when we first met?” I responded, “We? When? Where?” She then said, “Yes, we met at (name & event withheld) and when we were introduced our eyes met!” I was like “I was wearing black sunglasses!”
And they were so black I couldn’t even see my own eyes in the mirror! I myself don’t even remember meeting her. Then being told she googled me that night and went on fb and chatted some people trying to get info on me in a passive aggressive way.
I am always upfront and set the record straight when someone gets too close to me, male or female, that we are “friends” and “friends only”, by email or face to face, but this doesn’t seem to stop them. Then they keep challenging you, and mirroring (copying), a term the FBI taught me. Mirroring can last 2 to 5 years the FBI informed me, that is unbelievable! Because it isn’t “criminal” it can be used as evidence or a follow-trail.
I have had stalker number two, who sometimes works for one of the Housewives from the TV show once in a while, forwarded me the Housewives’ (acquaintance) emails from different cities and her thoughts on people which weren’t very nice, and told me about how this woman would have fist banging kitchen counter top meltdowns on the set from last season with producers because she wants to be the most famous one, and how stalker number two thought the Housewife (acquaintance) was ugly when she first met her because of her face…this is true…that’s what she said, and how gawky and big she is! Of course she would never tell her this to her, um, face because it’s all about what she can get or manipulate her to do. You would think this reality woman would know the drill better than anyone, but she for being so smart she surrounds herself with less than intelligent and beneath her people as her camp. I guess she likes the low level players so she can be the Big Mama!
I have the FBI and my lawyers handling these present stalkers. To me, this is a very strange and scary situation that I am presently in, I feel. To meet these so called stalkers at “showbiz” event settings, whether they fraudulently represented themselves or who are really wannabe star struck fans pretending to be “in the business” and using the excuse that they are there for your support, business, etc
These are two excerpts from two emails were sent by stalker number two in regards to the woman on the Housewives (acquaintance), it is so manipulating and passive aggressive, although stalker number two did email me that “acquaintance” uses the word “manipulate” a lot in her dialogue when referring to people she finds “threatening”:
“(name withheld) actually quoted the words “manipulate”.”
“But, this email in particular I wanted you to read for one reason and it’s because she is sharing how she is scared about upcoming season and asking me if anything she should be aware of? This is what I wanted you to see with your own eyes … about how {name withheld} worries a lot and does care about how people see her even though she seems very tough and uncaring at times. ”
“I remember I once brought up {business name withheld} (down the street from her office) and they have 3 huge bldgs around the area not just an office like (name withheld}, and as I was explaining how I’ve been with the company for many years as they’ve grown, she just kept shaking her head that she didn’t know them. That’s {name withheld}’s weakness because she didn’t want to hear about another business that I was working with or maybe how their company was so big, etc.”
This is just a bit of what is going on with me presently, and believe me, there is a whole lot more!
The FBI has categorized these stalkers I have recently as Love Obsessed/Delusional Stalkers (Erotomania) or “Casual Acquaintance Stalker”. I was also educated from the FBI that these stalkers “Mirror” you for 2 to 5 years after breaking contact, meaning they watch and copy you and your moves, etc.
The first “stalker”, aka stalker number one, seems to be befriending anyone I have ever known that is a celebrity or in the business since I stopped contact 2 years ago and badmouth me. At one point she even went so far as to try and meet and do business with my publicist for herself, all under false pretense of saying that she was a close, personal friend of mine, which she was/is not. And presently has a fake PR person with a fake client list, but no one cares and let’s them go because they aren’t a “threat”!
Stalker number two won’t stop emailing me since I broke contact, going on a little over 3 months now, emailing up to 3 to 5 times a day, sometimes at all hours of the night. She drinks, but won’t admit it. Now, keep in mind I didn’t have any kind of personal relationship with this woman, yet she created one in her head. And I also haven’t responded to any of her emails in months. Yet these emails she sends range from being sweet and overly familiar considering we hardly knew each other. Here are two examples:
“I don’t want to keep bugging you … because I’m sure by now you either not reading my emails or not caring what I have to say or feel. I just feel this part of me wanting to share with you so much … I miss you. I really hope you’re okay and everything is good for you. Perhaps, maybe you even may met
someone so busy with a new person in your life .”
to her turning right around and emailing me the next day the having a meltdown:
“I just want you to know that I realize more than ever … after few friends forwarded me how you recently celebrated once again a birthday with one of your celebrity friends their birthday and post on facebook!…I will no longer bother you … wish you best! “.
Once again, I never reply but the emails kept coming. I have been asked by friends repeatedly, “why don’t you just block her email?” But I’m not blocking anything, it’s called a paper trail!
These types of “stalkers” believe that there is a “relationship” with you. It’s all in their head. I don’t know how many times I have had to say the word “friend” and yet these two won’t stop. The whole thing is absurd! Funny thing is that many people will feel sorry for these two women.. and not for me, but if it were in reverse, it wouldn’t be funny at all. It’s 2011 and I feel that this somewhat “archaic” observation of “men” just isn’t right. Equal Rights? Well, definitely not here.
“Everyone thinks your gay and I’m crazy to want anything more than friendship from you … even tonight (name withheld)made a comment about how you were wooing the guys …”
I am not one to not say my sexual orientation and find her crazy banter to be disrespectful and challenging. Regarding above email comment from stalker number two, I didn’t speak to stalker number two for 3 months and I was the Celebrity Host for an opening of a nightclub and fashion show. She surprised the heck out of me showing up and I did not even speak or look at her. She then had a meltdown after I left the event and “scared” the man who wrote a story about me. He called me the next morning and couldn’t believe her uncontrollable crying and tantrum.
The harassing and threatening bipolar behaviors, which they both vehemently deny, is scary! They will start non stop crying and threatening emails and calls, then the next day email you a sweet letter about their life, and poems they write or photos! Yikes! Funny how these two stalkers think they are on my level and challenge me.
I recently reached out to an “acquaintance” of stalker number two, who is also an “acquaintance” of mine. Actually, stalker number two is more than an acquaintance to her because she employs her from time to time. I reached out because the acquaintance and I received emails that we were both named in, from an unknown person about my stalking incident. These emails were as much of a surprise to my acquaintance as they were to me, and I thought I would call her since she, I knew, responded to those emails. I know this because whoever in the hell was sending those emails also forwarded to me the response they got from my acquaintance. I never responded to those emails, why would I, I don’t know that person? The internet can be a very odd place, although, it really isn’t hard today to get info (email addresses, phone numbers, etc) because of the internet.
Well, she took my call and I thought we were going to have an adult conversation, and she could shed her intelligence or help the matter, but she wouldn’t talk to me once I said “Hello, it’s Daniel DiCriscio, can I talk to you?”, that was all I got out, and she quickly cut me off and said she was in a meeting and hung up on me! I thought in my head after she hung up on me, “In a meeting?? Then why take my call??!” I didn’t even have a chance to say anything! This woman is on one of the Housewives shows, and she of all people should know what I was about to talk to her about. Considering “stalking” happens to many people in the spotlight under the guise of sweetness, I thought that this woman was much smarter than this. I did email her back and said it was unprofessional and rude how she handled the phone call, and she emailed back and apologized, well, sort of, in her own way. I explained that this was a serious, and scary thing that was taking
place and considering we are both in the public’s eye, she could make some sense of this.
This was her email response to me after I emailed her about her about her “less than professional” phone etiquette:
Daniel,
I apologize that you did not like the way I spoke to you, but this is a place of business that you called. I do not have time, nor will I take time on dealing with {name withheld}. I received a lengthy email from a {name withheld} which was very inappropriate and I am aggravated that you feel you both need to involve me in this. I want nothing to do with any of it. This situation with you and {name withheld} is between you and {name withheld}. Please keep me out of it. I am busy running my {business name withheld} company during the day, and do not get involved with people’s business.
Please respect me and leave me out of this situation.
To me, this is a back-handed apology and disrespectful, it’s all about her and not one thing for me. And to make matters worse, this woman emailed back the unknown third party emailer with this contradictory statement regarding her relationship with stalker number two, which isn’t what stalker number two says:
“Thank you for your letter, however I am NOT close to {name withheld} and simply have used her for several occasions.”
The thing with “stalking” is that it’s a very unpleasant thing to deal with, or have to deal with. I can understand completely not wanting to be involved, etc, and I did email this to this woman but to be treated so badly and rudely is uncalled for and makes me think there is more on the other side of her story, if you get my drift.
I feel that this behavior exhibited from these women towards me is almost a battle between the sexes on their part, considering they both are divorced and are on the man-hating path. The “acquaintance” actually makes it pretty clear in her book! Anyone who knows me knows I don’t play that way at all! Also, anything you say, or your lawyer, they will lie and turn it around. My close friends have experienced all the “shenanigans” these stalkers have tried to do, all in the name for fame. Remember if I say their names, they get the fame! Everyone will be googling them and ‘Viola!’ they get what they wanted!
Everyone knows of a famous stalking case: Rebecca Schaffer, Teresa Saldana, David Letterman, Pamela Anderson, Steven Spielberg…and the list goes on. Some of these cases have end up with a deadly ending or a horrifyingly injured victim.
I always say, especially to this woman from one of the Housewives shows, “When it happens to you, you will understand the fear and understand “it” better.”
As the FBI has informed me that “Stalkers” or “stalking” is very, very common in Hollywood, especially the “Erotomania”/ “Love Obsessed/Delusional Stalker” because of Celebrity.
Stalker number one is still “Mirroring” me and is obsessed with “fame”, “coat-tail riding”, knowing and befriending everyone I know and turning them against me, and Facebook, even though they aren’t famous at all. Stalker number two, who also “mirrors” me, and seems to be getting back up help from the “acquaintance”, loves confrontation which is a one-type stalker trait. My lawyer sent her a letter via email asking her to stop harassing me and she quickly responded and took control in less than the span of 5 minutes! Scary! I was in a meeting with my lawyer and she sent me a myriad of emails, challenging me as well!! Stalker number one was sent a letter from my attorney and this stalker waited months before responding and when a response was sent it seemed to my lawyer as if it was actually the stalker writing her own letter on legal letterhead stationery. Another thing about certain stalkers is they love the confrontation, so what to do? Ignore them? That isn’t fair to me is it? They get away with misbehaving, no?
I have a zillion emails from both stalkers, but stalker number two does it in another whole way. Stalker number one doesn’t like confrontation, but stalker number two does! They both seem overly sweet, giving, caring, and can fool a lot of people as it seems, but not me! Stalker number one even offers to put you in her Will and give you lots of money or jewelry, and even offered me 150,000 dollars to marry her …I told her “No Thank You”, plus, they are great liars and fantasizers! You would be amazed at how many people believe that they are in her Will without seeing The Will! But remember, she expects something back…Showbiz! Hollyweird! She even emailed me a “confidentiality agreement” for her, to my surprise, so I would trust her and tell her my info and then said the stuff I would tell her wouldn’t go anywhere!
This is an email from Stalker number one:
“D are you friends with Chynna doll and Mary Cara? invite them if you are. Xoxox”
Chyna Doll is a a client of mine aka Joanie Laurer, and we did some animal protests at UCLA together, and Mary Carey is the porno actress from Celebrity Rehab, whom I have been seen with in photos from the press. I have been asked by this stalker for a myriad of Celebrities including Pamela Anderson to come to her fake charity parties. Yeah, right!
Facebook is another bad stalker haven. I have had to “block” these two for obvious reasons. Just because I am perceived as a nice, easy going, and personable guy does not make me a target; I feel like the girl with the short skirt who gets attacked and people say, “Oh, she asked for it”.
Also, these two present stalkers of mine are so showbiz obsessed yet deny that’s what they are doing, but the proof is in the pudding. They are always manipulating and playing the victim to get “fame” or acknowledgement. They have major entitlement issue for not doing anything! Stalker number one even had a huge meltdown because I was invited to a big movie premiere and she said she deserved to go! Even tried to get herself invited behind my back using a friend pretending to be a publicist repping her! Everyone in the business knows, it doesn’t work that way. One stalker even has a bunch of fake companies that are basically fraudulent showbiz companies that only rep herself, and she claims to have been on TMZ, yet search her name and…. nothing. The other stalker has a business that is run out of her apartment that she was told by her landlord that it isn’t legal to do that. But to read about them on the internet, you would think they are zillionaires…not the case. But because they are unassuming, they get away with it.
I have emailed and pleaded with both of them to stop harassing me and threatening me, and or challenging me…but they keep coming back with emails, etc.
I don’t see lines of people trying to be Doctors and steal their personas or career without the proper credentials, but it seems in Showbiz, people assume there aren’t any prerequisites that you have to have, so Entitlement enters! Beware!
Anyway, hopefully all of this will just go away, but it doesn’t work that way… or so I am told.

“The more information that came out, the more outrageous the charges against Nelson became. From an Atlanta Journal-Constitution story that came out the month after the incident:
On April 10, she and her three children — Tyler, 9, A.J., 4, and Lauryn, 3 — went shopping because the next day was Nelson’s birthday. They had pizza, went to Wal-Mart and missed a bus, putting them an hour late getting home. Nelson, a student at Kennesaw State University, said she never expected to be out after dark, especially with the children.
When the Cobb County Transit bus finally stopped directly across from Somerpoint Apartments, night had fallen. She and the children crossed two lanes and waited with other passengers on the raised median for a break in traffic. The nearest crosswalks were three-tenths of a mile in either direction, and Nelson wanted to get her children inside as soon as possible. A.J. carried a plastic bag holding a goldfish they’d purchased.
“One girl ran across the street,” Nelson said. “For some odd reason, I guess he saw the girl and decided to run out behind her. I said, ‘Stop, A.J.,’ and he was in the middle of the street so I said keep going. That’s when we all got hit.”
“That’s when we all got hit.”
What a tragic ACCIDENT, AJ killed by a drunk hit and run driver and the mother and baby injured and in the hospital. This was the third DUI for Jerry Lyn Guy, who had been convicted of hit-and-run twice before, drove away from the scene, but was later arrested.
He was charged with ONLY felony hit-and-run and has since served a six-month prison term and must complete four-and-a-half years of probation.
WHAT???? his second hit and run and his third DUI; how did he get this “sweetheart” deal? But it gets worse.
The public has been unsympathetic to both women, especially in the blogosphere.
“Crosswalk or not, it is her responsibility to cross only when traffic is far enough away that she and her children can cross safely,” said an anonymous poster on a WXIA television blog after the April accident.
Raquel Nelson, the mother of AJ was charged and CONVICTED by an ALL white jury of secondary vehicular homicide, crossing roadway elsewhere than at crosswalk and reckless conduct in the April 10, 2010 incident.
In an unusual move Judge Katherine Tanksley gave Ms. Nelson only 12 months probation instead of the three years in jail Ms. Nelson could have received. YES the mother could have received more than the drunk driver who killed her son. Judge Tanksley went further though and offered the mother a new trial.
Now enters Steve Sadow, one of the best criminal attorneys around with an email statement issued last Friday, August 5, 2011:
“Ms. Nelson has decided to proceed with a retrial,” her new attorney, Steve Sadow, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Wednesday evening, following an email announcing his retainer. “I have taken the case pro bono because her prosecution is morally wrong and unjustified.”
Sadow said he hoped, based upon the national media attention Nelson’s case has drawn and the outpouring of support she’s received, that Morgan, [Cobb County solicitor Barry Morgan], chose not to prosecute a second time.
“There has been a public outcry against this prosecution,” Nelson’s new attorney said. “I sincerely hope that … Morgan does the right thing and dismisses the case before a retrial is necessary.”
In the first trial; The last thing the jury heard from Raquel Nelson’s defense lawyer, before they convicted her, was the tape of her frantic 911 call after her son, A.J., was hit by a car. “1-2-3-4-5-6, doing chest compressions on her son, screaming,” recalls attorney David Savoy. “There was not a dry eye in that court room.”
The jury then decided to convict her of vehicular homicide, jaywalking, and reckless conduct.
“I’ve never understood the power of the blogosphere,” Savoy said, “and now, I’m humbled.”
The next court date is in October.
That brings us to the next question in all of this, what those of us who run blogs that cover Celebrity, but more important HIGH PROFILE TRIALS, what is our role in all of this?
I have heard that a blog I have a lot of respect for is closing because of the backlash of the Anthony trial. I can understand that since I have been attacked and even sent viruses through twitter and emails because we DARED to cover the trial in a none lynch mob mentality. So as we get ready for the Michael Jackson trials I have done some soul searching of do we want to stay open and get the personal attacks and the threats including viruses, or is it easier to walk away. TRUST me the decision to walk away and pursue things I enjoy is a no brainer. But being stubborn, Ken and I have decided to began to gather papers, update the multiple Michael Jackson trials, and get ready for another emotion packed trial. So we will be here, will you?

I was working on the computer, probably on my family tree Friday, January 21, 2011, and had MSNBC on in the background waiting for Keith Olbermann and Friday night with James Thurber, which Ken loved.
When “Count Down” with Keith Olbermann came on I watched but continued at the computer, turning to watch certain segments. Then the world of broadcast changed with Olbermann saying something like “Next this will be the last night of Countdown, more about that when I return”, cut to commercial break. I was stunned, was he changing the name of his show, what?? I never in a million years expected to hear what he said when he came back. I was stunned, looking at Ken and saying WTF???
Well we have found out some of that over the last two days as well as a lot of hype of being fired, quitting, Tom Brokaw, being a lefty, having problems with the powers to be, believing he was all omnipotent, wanted to go back to sports, wanted to be a comedy writer a lot of things spinning out there, but here are a few “truths” .
MSNBC was a third place cable news network never getting traction, we would watch for a few minutes and then always go back to CNN, love Anderson Cooper and 360 there and got my two hours of news a night from his format. Then in 2006, I had MSNBC on for some reason perhaps it was destiny and I listened to Olbermann’s first Special Comment and I cried. Here was a guy talking truth to power, and like Valerie Plame and her husband Ambassador Joe Wilson. I feared Olbermann would be silenced by the Bush regime, or as his nickname in Texas goes “shrub” .
Why was this important?? Because like other greats before him, Walter Conkrite, who I idolized and he truly was the most trusted man in America and then Tom Brokaw of which I watched every night with some “Meet the Press” with Tim Russert. What made all of these newsman great to me was that each controlled their own content. Cronkite broke what the Viet Nam War was really about and with that courage of Cronkite the war ended. As Nixon said; “If Cronkite says it is over, then it is over”. I don’t remember Brokaw doing much of that Bryan Williams did more with his coverage of Hurricane Katrina and taking up for those in the Super Dome that he had spent the night with as other media began to slam them as “just the pour and the unruly”. Russert had control of the whole news department in both NBC and MSNBC as Browkaw had with NBC and Cronkite had with CBS. These titans knew that success depended on being able to speak the truth when you felt strongly about something. “Control of content”, something every successful commentator has had. That is what made Olbermann climbed and taking MSNBC with him, he controlled the content of his special comments and wow did they deliver a punch.
We have often said we are moderate independents, that silent majority here in politics, no real voice out there and not aligning with anyone, but when Olbermann took on the Regime we were govern — all of us knew this was special, this could be career ending for Olbermann, but it needed to be said. He pulled MSNBC out of third place and propelled them into 2nd place leaving CNN behind in the dust so to say. There was finally a voice not just for progressives or bleeding heart liberals, but to all of us who wanted our country back, and believed that could happen.
Tom Brokaw needs to retire and go to Wyoming or Montana like he promised he would, but no, he is still powerful, thought all cable news as unneeded and refused to appear on MSNBC, he was a dinosaur and wanted to hang on to that era; although never doubt he had total control of his content and still does it appears as well as others content. We have learned that Brokaw is more powerful in retirement then what any of us knew, it was not the regime in power we needed to worry about taking a new and clear voice as Olbernmann down, it would be someone we all trusted at one time, Browkaw and his lingering power
It was Tim Russert who saw the vision of cable news for NBC via the vehicle of MSNBC and he began to appear and encouraged others from the NBC side of News to appear, eventually even Brokaw appeared on election nights. Dan Abrams totally saw the future and reformatted MSNBC before he was canned.
At the end of Olbermann’s nightly commentary of events that he found of interest that day; Olbermann said “Goodnight and Good Luck”, from Edward R. Murrow. There are many prestigious awards worth more on the mantle of accolades and there are multiple Murrow awards given out every year, too many to even list or remember. Olbermann prized his Edward R, Murrow award though more than any other award he might have been given. Murrow spoke truth to power and it cost him his whole career. He unmasked the witch hunt of the 50’s under McCarthy and lifted a veil of fear that had gripped this country after WWII. Murrow spoke truth to power and McCarthy lost his power, was unmasked for what he was and ended that regime. Murrow paid with his whole career being taken off news and put on some Sunday night Live interview show and then faded out into what those in power in the media hoped would be oblivion.
Walter Cronkite worked after his retirement on leveling the campaign field seeing cable news as a vehicle to help reform political campaign financing. He felt with 24 hours of cable that each candidate could be assured of equal time and by that would get the powerful corporations and lobbyists out of our politics which would give it back to the voter, and prevent a Corpocracy as even Thomas Jefferson used to warn the country to beware of and not to allow that to happen. I didn’t know that about Cronkite until his death but that made him even more the most trusted man in America in my eyes. Russert saw potential in cable news and supported the then fledgling MSNBC and believed in Olbermann. Russert understood “control of one’s content” and the power that gave a voice. Hell even Fox “News” gives O’Reilly control of content., but that is for another day.
Brokaw and Comcast won and we lost a valuable voice on Friday night and the cable network will bow to the gods that be and my respect for Brokaw has been taken forever, leaving only a bad taste in my mouth. Something I thought could never happened until the last two months cumulating in this past 3 days.
Take Action has asked those of us who put 350,000 signatures in less than 48 hours, to sign a Thank you to Olbermann On a petition to bring Olbermann back in November which was successful and with that the people speaking we put into motion both good and bad. Good in that we have a voice and the internet has leveled the playing field a bit, but also unknowingly we set into motion the eventual take down of Oblermann by Browkaw and his lords in the main offices. When you take risks, you make powerful enemies and those with Brokaw at the helm was determine to silence the “silent majority” and the progressives who loved Olbermann. Brokaw needs to fade away and perhaps as MSNBC goes down in the flames of ratings and those few advertising dollars that all networks and shows fight for diminish, it will be Brokaw who fades into obscurity.
Keith Olbermann or KO as he is called will be back, it is rumored he cannot come back on air for many months because of the non-competition clause of most contracts which are bought out and have as a condition for several months if not for the whole two years left on Olbermann’s contract. 15 million dollars in a buyout gives a lot of credence to the no compete clause. Olbermann it appears can be heard as a sportscaster or on radio or he can become an internet powerhouse, I hope the latter happens fast and during the time he has to remain off of the air. I can see something equal to the Huffington Post, say Olbermann’s View, with Olbermann giving those who work at some endeavor like that, control of their content, and if he does those who want to participate will line up to sign on, and Olbermann will make a ton of money along the way.
I will not be watching MSNBC again, even though I wish Rachel Maddow only the best, because at the end of day the little guys like us citizens can only control the media in ratings which equals advertising dollars and the money advertisers pay and that my friends gives us POWER.. That POWER we must each claim right now if we believe in freedom of speech, freedom of the press and those eloquent enough to make it in the media should have control of “their content and editorial opinions”. The ACLU says it best when they go head to head to protect that right for someone that makes me ill, because if we do not protect that person’s right then it will end for all of us. We can see that now in the censorship of American news and opinion shows and the difference in the U. K. media and Canadian media. How ironic that which our founding fathers fought so hard for to keep us free, is given more in the motherland of the U. K. then in America.
I encourage each of you to sign the thank you that is up on line at Bold Progressive site and watch David Shuster’s video from this morning’s CNN “Reliable Sources” He sums it up great.
I close with two additional things:
1. What I wrote on the thank you petition : “To Keith, Edward R Murrow spoke truth to power, you knew that and you knew what that cost him and yet you followed him and spoke truth to power, on both sides of the spectrum.
The internet has a way of making the stage more even today. I know you will be back and a million of us will be waiting for you. Advertising dollars are tight these days, and in that is power.
Last night as you said goodbye I was shocked and then when you said “Goodnight and Good Luck” I saw a class act. I will not be watching MSNBC again, looks like CNN is going to attack a lot of us until we learn where you will again appear.”
2. However much more importantly is what Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter as the press of his day slammed him unmercifully: “If it were left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.”
Join with us and the growing outcry and boycott MSNBC, in numbers, “We the people” still have a lot of power if we use that power wisely. Remember viewership equals advertising dollars, a simple rule that has a lot of power.

Subtitle: Or is it an Excuse as Comcast gets Ready to Come on Board?
Late Friday afternoon, November 5 2010, CNN broke the news that Keith Olbermann had been suspended indefinitely without pay for making three political contributions without the “approval” of MSNBC president Phil Griffin. However by today, November 7, 2010 that is not holding water and the backlash is something Comcast, GE, and MSNBC probably never imagined.
If you want a story to die, you release it on Friday afternoon when no one will notice and then it dies over the weekend. Politicians do this all of the time, but this time the Keith Olbermann dispute is gaining steam and putting Griffin in a no-win situation, or as much of that kind of situation you can put a rich dude with a title in.
I watched Rachael Maddow on Friday night to hear the “most” that MSNBC is going to allow to be said on their network… “Allowed”??? Yes they have the final say in what will be on their network, like it or hit the door.
As Thomas Jefferson once said; “[A despotic] government always [keeps] a kind of standing army of news writers who, without any regard to truth or to what should be like truth, [invent] and put into the papers whatever might serve the ministers. This suffices with the mass of the people who have no means of distinguishing the false from the true.” Jefferson also had confidence which today rests with our computers and Google of saying; “I am persuaded that the good sense of the people will always be found to be the best army. They may be led astray for a moment, but will soon correct themselves. The people are the only censors of their governors, and even their errors will tend to keep these to the true principles of their institution.”
After that what did I do? I went to my favorite of “let Google be your friend” and began to hunt for my truth. What I found out there is amazing, confusing and should scare all of us. First Olbermann was suspended for giving political contributions without permissions from his overlords. By today it is because he would not apologize on the air, not that any of us would know why he was doing that, nor would we care. Griffin might be changing to this because over the weekend it is getting more difficult for Griffin to find employees that have not given as in no host to take over for Keith on Monday, so the story has again changed to the apology angle.
Joe Scarborough of “Morning Joe” with nutso co-host, Mika Brzezinski, (I say nutso because she is), and pundit Pat Buchanan, who guarantees a channel change in our home when he begins to spew his hate on air. Besides what Buchanan has given while being on MSNBC it was found that WAY back in 2006, Scarborough had given the maximum $4,200 contribution to the Oregon congressional race of close friend Derrick Kitts. On Friday MNSBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines put out a statement that said; “That contribution was made in accordance with (network) policy. Joe sought permission in advance. Since 2007 we have recommitted ourselves to following these important standards.”
That lasted about four hours before it was uncovered by POLITICO, the same organization that reported the Olbermann donations; found that statement was also FALSE. Scarborough made a $5,000 contribution in April 2010 to Alabama state legislative candidate John Merrill, who said the two have been close friends since they attended the University of Alabama together. Merrill had no real Democratic opponent.” So of course he needed Joe’s contribution, Joe tell us it anit’ so? That caused nutso Mika Brzezinski to give an interview to POLITICO, not something anyone is doing that works for MSNBC on behalf of Olbermann by the way. Mika basically said, Joe this is MY JOB, throw you long time friend under the bus, tell them he LIED. Her exact quote was in part; “That contribution should have been in the name of Scarborough’s wife, Susan Scarborough. The Scarboroughs expect John Merrill will amend his campaign report to accurately reflect that reality. If he does not, I will recommend they file an ethics complaint against him.” Brzezinski also challenged Merrill’s recollection of having brought Scarborough to Tuscaloosa for an August 2009 fundraiser for the county Republican Party, which Merrill said “was unbelievably successful. We raised a ton of money that we used to help local candidates.” Mika jumped on that to spin it as; “That event was billed as a tribute to Gov. Bob Riley on his retirement from politics, any suggestion that Joe Scarborough went to the University event to raise money for a political party is false. Sadly, many politicians try to elevate their standing by exaggerating their connection to Joe. This is one of those cases.” Yea Mika like unknown pundits wannabes like you elevate yourself in all of this.
That said it appears that Mika has the power to make a politician change his “story”, go figure Contrary to a VERY different interview with POLITICO earlier on Friday, I suggest you read that interview at POLITICO. Mika (cough cough seems to think she has the power she has claimed) cause on Friday evening, Merrill issued a chastened statement to POLITICO asserting that the $5,000 donation — his biggest individual donation of the campaign — was “from Susan Scarborough … I am very appreciative of her support.”
Mika shut up and sit down. We know your ratings are in the crapper but frankly I liked you better when you showed up at work, with curlers in your hair, very little make-up and chomping your breakfast on camera. I still turned you off though and even if by accident you and Morning Joe are on my television in the early morning hours by accident, WELL let’s just say thank God for quick remote controls. That said I would be doing this of you so think before you are fast to throw someone else under the bus, you might need support one day.
There is a much bigger story here that is probably closer to the truth, when POLITICO wrote that the decision was made by Steve Burke, a Bush fundraiser, who will be placed at the helm of MSNBC and other NBC companies after the buy-out of NBC Universal. Burke has not made any secret it appears of not liking Olbermann, and in previous interviews when asked about Olbermann’s style of reporting said to ask him again in six to twelve months. Perhaps this is a preview?
POLITICO corrected that error with the following: “UPDATED: We have been notified that Comcast has not yet officially taken over MSNBC/NBC Universal. Although Comcast has tentatively finalized a deal to purchase a majority stake in NBC, Comcast awaits final approval of the takeover from the Justice Department and from the Federal Communications Commission. A statement from Comcast reads: “The joint venture between Comcast and GE has not yet received regulatory approval. Comcast is not in any way involved with decisions made currently by NBC News.” However, once Comcast gains final approval from federal regulators to move forward, Comcast COO Steve Burke, a Bush fundraiser, will be placed at the helm of MSNBC and other NBC companies. Our original post inaccurately asserted that Comcast’s Burke was involved in the decision to fire Olbermann. We apologize for the error”.
All of this said and done what causes me the most alarm and this fiasco has I hope brought to the forefront for a lot of us is that Comcast has a pending deal with NBC Universal to buy them for $80 billion, that is right BILLION, dollars and has been moving on getting permission to do that with the Justice Department and the FCC. The why they need permission is what shocked me. With the purchase of NBC Universal Comcast will control 25% of what all of us see on TV. Let that sink in they will control ONE-QUARTER of what is available for every watcher of television. Now their deal is a sure thing to go through because they bought the votes with $32 million dollars in contributions to the best politicians for sale out there.
Twenty, [20], public interest, industry and consumer groups have announced a coalition to oppose the proposed merger between Comcast and NBC Universal, citing its potential harm on competition and consumer choice. “As the nation’s largest cable company, the largest Internet service provider, the NBC broadcast networks, owner of the local NBC and Telemundo stations in some of the nation’s largest media markets, owner of dozens of national, regional and local news, entertainment and sports cable networks, and owner or part-owner of some of the most heavily visited Web sites on the Internet, the merged entity will exert a degree of power unknown in our nation’s media history,” the coalition’s letter said. “That degree of concentrated power is fundamentally threatening to the public interest. Before allowing such a sea-change to take place, these impacts must be fully studied and understood – and the threats must be mitigated through energetic applications of the government’s regulatory authority.”
As a side note but one to pay attention to is Comcast is anti net neutrality as in they want you to pay to find sites like ours or block small sites altogether and to slow down both the ability to get to sites. , savetheinternet.com explains that companies like Comcast want “to be Internet gatekeepers, deciding which Web sites go fast or slow and which won’t load at all. They want to tax content providers to guarantee speedy delivery of their data. — while slowing down or blocking services offered by their competitors. These companies have a new vision for the Internet. Instead of a level playing field, they want to reserve express lanes for their own content and services — or those of big corporations that can afford the steep tolls — and leave the rest of us on a winding dirt road.”
In closing I want to quote two more great insights to all of this:
Russell Simmons’ op-ed at the Huffington Post.com in saying not only will he pay those pesky three contributions made by Keith but says what many of us feel. “Keith Olbermann has given voice to the voiceless, sanity to the madness, truth where lies are now a daily part of our political discourse. … If he goes we lose the Edward Murrow of our generation, the voice that spits truth to power and vested interests.”
Secondly another quote by Jefferson; “The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter…”
I also want to say that Olbermann puts his money and time in what he believes. When he saw Free Clinics in action in poor areas he took notice. He raised all of our awareness and promoted and help fund much larger Free Clinics to those in need. So for what everyone else is doing he is now punished and perhaps will not return to Count Down, if he does then whether on the right or left we all lose.
So with this being Rose Speaks.com first ever political or save anyone editorial here are the places you can go to make sure whether you love or hate Keith Olbrmann that his voice not be silenced for if he is silenced for MSNBC to become a baby “Fox” then who is next and when it is us who will be left to speak up?
Yes I have joined all of the efforts and in disclosure I gave to Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign a very small amount, but sometimes those small amounts or the lone voice can get traction and help.
Here is a sample you can send when signing the Petition and is what I added to my signature: “Friday, November 05, 2010 This is the last night for me to watch MSNBC until Keith is back. Only watched tonight to hear what Rachel Maddow had to say. GOOD BYE Mmmmmmmm where will your advertisers go, perhaps CNN where your viewers will go?”
Yes I love Rachel and think I would like Lawrence O’Donnald but sometimes you just have to watch reruns so MSNBC is hurt in the only way that matters, viewers which equal advertising dollars. Keep the heat of MSNBC and say, “you can’t hide something this unfair by saying it late on Friday afternoon, we are smarter than that”.
