Should Tiger Woods Hire L. Lin Wood for Privacy or a PR Person and do a Tell All?

Welcome to the 24/7 of infotainment passed off as news Tiger Woods. Have any of you done a google search of Tiger Woods today, what about a family privacy is now up for grabs? I could not believe the main stream media covering this with questions, and then you get to infotainment and last out and out horrid jokes sites, even a new “Spirit Airs” commercial based on Woods.
In a statement released on his website in part Tiger Woods said; “Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.”
Tiger Woods is a great athlete, and now is surrounded by “tabloid scrutiny” and sadly main stream news like MSNBC and CNN, however wait until the television 24/7 infotainment hits Mr. Wood and his family.
It appears in media when asked L. Lin Wood is giving Tiger Wood some free advice like on November 30, in Dallas News Wood said; ““It’s a vicious cycle to find yourself in,” said L. Lin Wood, a nationally known trial attorney and First Amendment expert.
“When a media frenzy descends upon you, it’s difficult sometimes to make the right decision.”
Wood’s clients have included John and Patsy Ramsey, former U.S. Rep. Gary Condit and Richard Jewell, the security guard wrongly implicated in the Atlanta Olympic bombing.
In attorney Wood’s opinion, golfer Woods doesn’t owe the public any more than what little he has said so far. “
On December 1, Mr. L. Lin Wood in the NHBR said” But the same forces that ignite the story might also cause it to burn out quickly, said L. Lin Wood, an Atlanta attorney who has counseled high-profile clients.
Barring any new allegations, Wood sees coverage of the Woods story dying down in a few weeks, perhaps flaring briefly the next time Woods appears in public, then fading away. The attorney disagrees with marketers who say Woods needs to face reporters.
“To me, it would be undignified for someone like Tiger Woods,” he said. “And if you start to feed the media frenzy, it’s just going to get bigger and probably last longer.”
As the infotainment passed off as news continue to swallow up Tiger Woods and is depriving him of the privacy he is begging for while for now actually appearing he is becoming a recluse in his own home with media trucks lining the streets. Today in USA Today Lin Wood again offered Tiger Wood some advice; “ L. Lin Wood understands that full extent, [of Tiger Woods statement on the Tigerwoods.com site],. He is a lawyer in Atlanta who has extensive experience representing clients caught in media maelstroms.
“You’ve got two choices, as a practical matter” in cases like this, Wood said. “You go public and answer all the questions — in other words, tell all. Or you make the choice to treat it as a private matter and refuse to discuss publicly the issues involving his relationship with his wife and obviously these new accusations of infidelity or sexual misconduct.
“I think he has made the right decision. I do not think the issues that are now part of the media firestorm are issues that merit public discussion. … And I think going forward, Tiger should be Tiger (and not discuss) issues that do not relate to his public status or his professional endeavors.”
However on TV and in statements to the media most PR firms are saying basically “Tiger Woods should hire us and let us handle the ever growing media storm by releasing the information to the public infotainment feeding frenzy”.
So in your opining if Tiger Woods finds himself needing some help in the next days or weeks, would it be better to hire a media expert to release those “facts for you” or someone like L. Lin Wood to guarantee Woods and his family privacy is reinforced?

I have been involved in this discussion at another board and as much as Tiger is in the wrong, so is the media, and so are the women who jumped into bed with the married man. He finally came out and apologized for his “transgressions” to the public. In reality, the only person he owes an extreme apology to is his wife. While apologizing to his WIFE, he should have the “rock of Gilbratar in his other hand and be down on bended knees…. groveling. Now we know he is like a lot of other humans on this Earth. He has sinned, broke his vows to his wife repeatly and lied about it to her, me and you.
In all honestly, all I wanted to know was that he was alright after his serious accident. I really didn’t need to know the nasty facts about Elin chasing him with a golf club smashing out his windows. I didn’t need to know what they had argued about. I really didn’t need to know that he text another woman he was screwing and asking for dirty pictures.
Hey, he is lucky he isn’t married to me, a Lorena Bobbit action comes to mind. Honey, whenever you go on tour, you can leave your “package” on the dresser so that I will know where it is at all the time. There will be NO MORE transgressions, understand?
What he doesn’t need to do for me is to give me more details. I am not a part of his life. While I admire him as a golfer (nothing can take that away from him), IMO, he is just another man who used the wrong head to think about those that he loved or claimed to love.
I do think he needs to go to his sponsers and apologize to them. They may need an explanation. His wife does, his beautiful children will at some time, his mother will prolly smack the BeJesus out of him. I don’t.
I wish the Woods family all the luck in the world in dealing with this. I do not know if any lawyer will be able to help him with the media. They are jumping on all the gory details as fast as someone can spin them.
I have to admit, I think less of these women who jump into bed with a married man and then come out to tell when it can be rewarding $$$$ to them (if they are screwing a famous person.)
This could have gone a whole lot worse. I am glad that the Woods did not talk to the police. Elin would have been arrested for domestic violence because I really believe she chased him with a golf club. I think they both need some serious counseling. Tiger for his sex addiction issues and his wife for various reasons. Her anger, her feeling of being betrayed and now embarrassed in front of the whole world.
Good Luck Mr. & Mrs. Woods, you need to find out if you can survive this entire ordeal. My thoughts are with you.

I really do not think that Tiger needs LW. I think he needs to concentrate on his wife and family. His angelic reputation took some blows but it will blow over. I can’t see that many men refusing to buy Nile golf clubs, drive a Buick or anything else that Tiger endorses because he cheated on his wife. hell it might even have the opposite affect, I can be just like Tiger if I do these things……………….

I agree with everything you’ve said. It’s now being reported that his wife has already revised their pre-nup–more money for less years of marriage. I do wonder what real future their marriage has with his many infidelites and his wife putting a price tag on staying with him.
Tiger has become a corporate, multi-million dollar commodity, and his marriage by extension has become a corporate asset. Unhappily their marriage may become nothing more than a business arrangement.
Beth [8] I took John’s post/comment the same way you did, now can both of us be wrong? What I do not understand is what does “far better pedigrees” have to do with representation of a client? Wouldn’t it be more like finding the most suitable Attorney to handle the situation you know like their record of accomplishment? Ann? Did Elin revise it or did he? While two wrongs do not make a right, his wife could have spent a few hours in jail for domestic violence if she did hit hm in any way, maybe she should cool the demanding down a bit.
DG, I think it’s Elin and her attorney who are wanting revision of the pre-nup. One report said she wants $5 million right now. Even though Tiger denies the domestic violence happened, some are saying the was extensive damage in the entrance way of the house and that’s why Tiger didn’t want the police coming into the house. IMO domestic violence is wrong whether it’s that husband or wife doing it, yet a lot of people seem to chuckle when it’s the wife initiating it. If it is true, at least I give him credit for not hitting her back. And on the other hand people at the scene said she seemed concerned for him when the car crashed and I give hr credit for that. If nothing else the whole thing has served to make him more human like the rest of us. IMO no one should be put on too high a of pedestal.
It’s interesting to watch opinions morph as the stories go on. At first many people wanted Elin arrested. Now it seems they want her to take him for everything she can get. It’s a sad story all the way around. Unfortunately when celebrities sin (Tiger’s word) the whole world sees it and judges as if they are saints themselves.

If true, it may be one indicator of what is wrong with their marriage. I can relate to her wanting a divorce. I can relate to her wanting to stay and trying to work things out. But “pay me enough money and I’ll stay”—-nope—can’t relate.

Ann, how it was explained to me about Elin was that if the money was put into an account which gave her the freedom to come and go, the she wouldn’t be staying for the money but would feel that she could leave at anytimg she wanted. It might be the only way that she can feel secure enough to even try to work on her marriage. (Although she would be getting major dollars anyway) IMO, this deal isn’t far off of a pre-nuptial. You have to be married to me for xx many years or you leave broke. Sort of makes the playing field on level ground. This might also get Tiger to look at the reason as to why he cheated. I certainly hope that this has taught him to place his “wood” in the correct hands.
Beverly, I agree that the media is set to destroy the entire family and not just Tiger. Who he screwed is Tiger’s and Elin problem. It certainly is not mine. I will continue to watch him golf. And I will lay odds that so will many other people. Men who wanted a new set of clubs will stiull buy the clubs they wanted whether Tiger endorses them or not.
I sincerely hope that he has told his wife everything, so that she can deal with the pain and not be shocked anymore by the chit that the media portrays as the truth.

Well the first one didn’t come out on her own free will, seems her “friends” sold the story. At first she denied it. Then the second woman came out (I heard 100,000 bait it took) with dirty message…… The third is keeping quiet, the last I heard. Apparently Elin confronted the one over the phone….. said something like “I know who you are, you are the one that is ummm errr…. bleeping… my husband. With a temper like Elin’s I think Tiger better learn to play “pocket pool” if there is an urgent need.
DG, I guess that’s one way of looking at it, although I really don’t buy it. Staying shouldn’t be contingent on changing the pre-nup and putting millions in her back account. I think she knows that the people around Tiger are trying to do damage control to save his endorsements and she’s taking advantage of that fact. As I said I don’t really think there’s much hope for their marriage. They haven’t been married that long and now it’s being said that they were having trouble before this.
I don’t know if Tiger’s people can do that much damage control with all these women tripping over each other to get to the media and tell all. If Tiger does decide to do an interview, and he may have to just to set things straight, his best bet would probably be doing one with Oprah. No doubt his PR people are planning strategy.

I don’t know about mistress Rachael, the one who hired Allred. She’s already spreading it to the media that she’s got all the dirt on Tiger and says she’s “afraid” of some of the people around Tiger. It looks to me like she’s planning her own payday and signaling everyone that she has the goods not only on Tiger but also his wife.
Does anyone else find it strange that whenever a Celebrity or a Politician has been ousted for having an affair it is always more than one that comes out of the woodwork? The question I have is what were the true intentions of the women who have the affairs are they truly sincere, do they think these men they are having the affair with are just gonna up and leave their wives or is it just another way to get a big old payday. IMO it’s about how much money they can make off either the Celebrity/Politician or how fat the check will be/get from public appearances. I mean why else would they keep voice mails, e-mail, text messages if it were not going to be used later on down the road. Thing is, it’s the cheating Celebrity and Politicians stupidity for trusting these women and thinking their families and the public would never find out.

Why would he hire an attorney?, ‘is someone coming to get him?’ Is it possible that the ‘hydrant’ or the ‘tree’ will litigate damages? My thoughts on this is that he is in no need of ‘LL’ or ‘WW’ or ‘ZZ’, he is doing exactly everything by the book. He is being directed by some great management people and some of the best ’spin masters’ money can buy.
Once again, knowing what to do and who to have on board is a talent, and not one mastered easily.
He is a great person and perhaps he made a mistake of judgment, but he will return to greatness, for in the big picture, so what! And for those of you wondering, no, L.Wood and I are not swapping Christmas cards.

Why do people look at humans to be perfect? Hey folks, news flash, it will never ever happen. We are all human and each and everyone of us has flaws. For those who want LE to investigate more ? Why? So you can have your blood? Isn’t there enough blood already spilt? Investigate any more and Elin will be charged with Domestic Violence. Is this what people really want to see? Some want Tiger charged for impaired driving because of the erratic way he drove. Well stop and think people, his wife was prolly running after him with golf club in hand, showing her form of the swing and he was trying to avoid hitting her or being hit. Apparently she was also driving a golf cart while doing so. Let it go. Let Elin deal with Tiger. No one else has to.
Ann: I can understand it when the woman feels trapped in a loveless marriage and has no means to escape at all. It will always be in the back of peoples minds if she stayed anyway for the money. It may be a good thing that this too has made press. Either way it won’t change anything. She has a helluva road ahead of her. Tiger’s best bet is to have his family by his side every minute of everyday until such time, Elin can feel she can trust him. That time may never come or she will just realize that there is no future with Tiger. Only those two can work on this.
If tiger has any sort of brain at all, he will hire Lin Wood.

I believe that Rose hit the nail on the head about TW may be needing an ‘experienced’ PR person in the near future. He may be rich, and he may have a ‘tough group’ looking out for ALL of their interests – but have they dealt with this ‘kind’ of publicity? With the accusations that are false?
I think the Ramsey and Jewel case has garnered wide publicity in past years.

Setting personal feelings and dealings aside from it John, I do think that more woman will come out… Maybe even some ‘accusers’ that never even met TW and assert accusations and lies that they were together. That is where LL could possibly be of help to this family. IMO
* Most likely TW will stick with his own advisors that have got him this far, BUT have they ever had to deal with this kind of criticism before in this magnitude? I hope they realize that it is probably far from over… There are too many people out there looking for a payday, greedy people who are just looking towards their own agenda. Just like this ANS saga that you say is so over… I have a feeling there is more to play out before this is put to rest by the Courts and the public that have followed this story. Granted most of the public cares not if these people are unjustly accused of acts they did not do. I am sure the falsely accused people care, their families care and the only thing I hope is that the true conspirators that has tried to take them down get ‘ousted’ to the public from the SC case! Now, that would be Justice if they had to answer to a Judge for their actions in this!
I am sorry that you do not see that the interests for some is only; about getting fair and just action from the Courts, Judges, and that the law is applied to these people like it is applied to anyone else. It is not everyday that you have so many people conspiring against one or two so publicly all for the sake of greed.
Even if these people who have been accused are not perfect, there was never an intent to harm anyone and until that is proven I will be reading and commenting on the bad guys that are trying to say otherwise.

Rose.Lin Wood sounds like the two Federal agents I delt with at one time,Very smart,and no fooling around.my Attorney that I have the children trust with,is the same way.I do admire them.It is such a pleasure,compared to talking to a police officer.and to my way of thinking,if Mr Wood stayed with Howard this long,then he believes in him.I do have a problem,with people working as a PI,Bodyguard,or in any other capacity,writtng or going on TV,talking about there clients.and what you just said in the above comments,should make anyone realize,what a poor child was going to be used for,all my prayers are with the child and her father,mayGod keep them both safe.Just now everyone is learning what Michael Jackson’s life was like,yet the media made fun of him,the comics on late night TV,made fun of him,and NO-ONE knew the hurt his soul was in,.for money now Tiger Woods,

Hmm, go figure there is another woman coming forward claiming to have been involved with TW, which makes four. Media outlets must be paying out big bucks for these stories but how much you all wanna bet the first ones to give the dirty details get the biggest payday then again it may depend on just how dirty the details are. IMO the media needs to back off and let TW and families handle this but we know they [media] cannot do that.
